Abbas is a model turned Indian actor who has starred in several successful Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films. Abbas became a popular face after appearing in Rajshri Productions’ music video ‘Yeh Hai Prem’ opposite bollywood diva Preeti Jhangiani.

Born as Mirza Abbas Ali on 21 May 1975 in Calcutta, abbas completed his education in Mumbai. He was noticed by filmmaker Kathir during a fashion event and later cast him in his 19996 release ‘Kadhal Desam’. Abbas is married to Erum Ali, a fashion designer and the couple is blessed with a daughter named Emira Ali and a son named Aymaan Ali. Both the kids study at the reputed Abacus Montessori School. Abbas’s wife Erum Ali used to design his clothes and soon became a well known costume designer in the Tamil and Telugu films. She has recently designed for Selva’s Guru En Aalu’ starring Madhavan, Abbas and Mamta Mohandas and Selvaraghavan’s fantasy adventure film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ starring Karthi Sivakumar, Reemma Sen, Andrea Jeremiah and R. Parthiban.

Abbas made his debut in 1996 release Tamil film ‘Kadhal Desam’ also starring Vineeth, Tabu, S. P. Balasubrahmanyam, Vadivelu, Chinni Jayanth and Srividya. The film became a superhit and Abbas was seen in Tamil films like D.Sabhapathi’s ‘VIP’ alongside Prabhu Deva Sundaram, Simran Bagga, Rambha and Manivannan, Selva’s ‘Pooveli’ alongside Karthik, Kausalya and Heera Rajgopal and K. S. Ravikumar’s ‘Padayappa’ also starring Rajinikanth, Soundarya, Ramya Krishnan, Sivaji Ganesan, Manivannan, Nassar, Senthil, , Preetha Vijaykumar and Lakshmi.

Abbas played a significant role in the 1999 release Tamil comedy-drama ‘Suyamvaram’, a Guinness World Record-winning film. Directed by a host of directors, the film starred an ensemble cast including Sathyaraj, Prabhu Ganesan, Karthik Muthuraman, Prabhu Deva, Abbas, R Parthiban, Arjun Sarja, Livingston, Senthil, Urvashi, Kushboo Sundar, Rambha and Roja Selvamani. During this time, Abbas also appeared in first Malayalam film ‘Kannezhuthi Pottum Thottu’, Telugu films ‘Priya O Priya’, ‘Rajahamsa’ and Kannada film ‘Shanti Shanti Shanti’.

Abbas appeared in a supporting role in the National award winning film ‘Hey Ram’ directed by Kamal Hassan. Made in Tamil and Hindi, ‘Hey Ram’ featured popular actors like Kamal Haasan Shah Rukh Khan, Atul Kulkarni, Hema Malini, Rani Mukerji, Abbas, Girish Karnad, Naseeruddin Shah, Vasundhara Das and Nassar. ‘Hey Ram’ became India’s official entry to the Oscars in the year 2000.

Abbas became a popular star after appearing in blockbuster films like Rajiv Menon’s ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’ alongside Mammootty, Ajith Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Tabu and Srividya, Gautham Menon’s ‘Minnale’ alongside Madhavan, Reema Sen, Vivek and Nagesh, Arjun’s ‘Parasuram’ alongside Goundamani and Kiran Rathod, Susi Ganesan’s ‘Thiruttu Payale’ alongside Jeevan, Sonia Agarwal, Abbas, Malavika, Vivek, Manoj K Jayan and Charlie and Siddique’s ‘Sadhu Miranda’ alongside Prasanna and Kavya Madhavan.

Abbas was recently seen in Selva’s romantic-comedy ‘Guru En Aalu’ also starring Madhavan, Mamta Mohandas, Brinda Parekh and Vivek. The film was inspired from Aziz Mirza’s ‘Yes Boss’ starring Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Aditya Pancholi and Kashmeera Shah. Abbas is expected to be seen in forthcoming Telugu films ‘Maaro’ and ‘Ramdev’ and is also busy in his family business based in Bangalore, Chennai & Hyderabad.
