Ajith Kumar is an eminent Tamil actor best remembered for films like ‘Vaali’, ‘Villain’, ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’, ‘Kadhal Kottai’, ‘Varalaru’ and ‘Billa’, among others. He is also a professional Formula Two race driver. Ajith Kumar was born as Ajithkumar Subramaniam on May 1, 1971 in Secunderabad and initially worked as a two wheeler auto mechanic to pursue his racing dreams. Ajith Kumar earned immense appreciation for his performance in S. J. Suryah’s Tamil thriller film ‘Vaali’ released in the year 1999. The film also starred Simran, Vivek, Livingston, Jyothika and Balaji in pivotal roles. ‘Vaali’ was a massive blockbuster hit and Ajith Kumar won the Filmfare Best Actor Award. The film is one of the biggest Tamil multi starrers and features notable actors like Mammootty, Ajith Kumar, Aishwarya Rai, Abbas, Tabu, Srividya and Raghuvaran. ‘Kandukondain Kandukondain’ was a mega success and was later dubbed into Telugu as ‘Priyuraalu Pilichindi’.
Ajith Kumar appeared in the negative lead in Santhosh Sivan’s historical drama ‘Asoka’ depicting the life of Ashoka the Great, an emperor of the Maurya dynasty. Shahrukh Khan- Kareena Kapoor starrer Asoka was a critical and commercial success and was released in Tamil as ‘Samrat Ashoka’. Ajith Kumar appeared in the character of Susima, half brother of Asoka played by Shahrukh Khan.
