Alberta Ferretti

Alberta Ferretti is an Italian fashion designer and dressmaker.Alberta Ferretti was born in 1950 in Catollica in Italy. She is the daughter of a dressmaker who had 18 seamstresses working for her. When she was only 18 years old, Alberta opened her own designer clothes shop in Rimini with the name Jolly Shop in 1968. She filled it with clothes from Armani, Krizia and Versace. She launched her own label in 1974.

In 1980, she started the manufacturing facility Aeffe with her brother Massimo that produced Moschino, Moschino cheap and chic, Pollini and Bosco, and Brooke. Her showroom is located in Milan, Italy, but her studio is in Cattolica, near Rimini, Italy. She designs for many fashion designers like Jean-Paul Gaultier, Rifat Ozbek, Narciso, and so on. She is known for her sweet designs and traditional baby doll frocks with ribbons. With the accusation of a building in New York City, Alberta Ferretti extended her company outside of Italy. The locality where she extended the company also became the marketing area of her collections.

Her creation of The Great Bay for the Milan ready-to-wear shows, long and trim gingham dress, a flapper and her renditions of the toga were simple gowns, yet diversified. In 1998 she started selling her signature and Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti lines through an in-store boutique at Bergdorf Goodman. She also obtained a Store in SoHo near Prince Street exclusively for her Philosophy collection, which was a lower priced edition of Ferretti’s signature line with the intention of selling it to the young ladies. Unlike most other fashion designers, Ferretti started boutiques for her secondary lines of fashion even before she started a store for her signature collection.

Ferretti style includes twisting, tucking and draping techniques with a layered feature. The Chiffon and jersey fashion which she introduced in her spring 2008 fashion collection displayed unique qualities, cut high in the front and draped low in the back. She targeted mainly at the cocktail crowd.

Her collection includes pleated bubbled coats, toga like mini-dresses and skirts, and gowns. Ferretti has a delicate vision of appreciating textiles, daintily beaded or embroidered chiffons and sari silks. Alberta Ferretti understands what people want and has withheld her brand to the things she does very well by concentrating on the fluttery chiffon and a presentable, pretty event dress. It has gained a list of followers because of her ultra-feminine dresses and evening gowns which are worth of a red carpet.

At the fall 2010 fashion show, Ferretti experimented on current vibe with barely-there color, covered arms with crystal sparkles. Alberta Ferretti is known for her romantic touch and divine sensuality. Alberta Ferretti is a favourite among A-list stars like Uma Thurman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie, Debra Messing, the stunning Jennifer Lopez, and so on.

Alberta Ferretti is a class in feminine dress line. Her works are a master class in the art of feminine draping. Her styles are distinguished by emphasizing on the intricately designed embellished necklines and her signature floor-sweeping hemlines with a rigid feminized A-line look.
