Both the designers met for the first time when they worked for Robert Cary-Williams. Aminaka and Wilmont studied from the University of Boras and the Royal College of Art, Central Saint Martin’s.
Their design signatures comprise of creative, flowing and sensual silhouettes that embraces soft, capacious draping of graceful intricacy and futuristic tailoring. How can one explain the Aminaka Wilmont Woman? She is sensual, composed, and self-confident, with a deep interest in creativeness and pure nontraditional beauty. Aminaka Wilmont trademark pieces consist of asymmetric distraught leather jackets and untried drape dresses with intangible prints. The Fall Winter 2011 collection is inspired by the Totemic tribes, subtraction and primitivism. And, after the London Fashion Week, the designers are entering into some collaboration with during late spring. The Aminaka Wilmont Autumn-Winter 2011 Collection consisted of digital prints that were inspired from animal furs, skins and hide. The strong and bold prints, give a clue of more ordered blocks of color and shape. Adapting grey shades have been worked on the knitwear that is cut in order to flow extensively around a silhouette, with leg and arm warmers giving a firm and raw feel through the entire collection. For the fashion week, Aminaka Wilmont remarked that they focused on departing from the pretty girl image and they were looking to set up some self-confidence and attitude. They were seeking to get inspired from primitive tribes to create a sense of animalism and predation. And, it was the same look on the ramp, as they desired – the models took the catwalk wearing contact lenses, with eyes roaming around giving an animal hunting effect. But, there was no airy element that was found in the past, but this was stronger and punkier, and a clear grunge element was visible this time, in the form of washed leather shorts and jackets, the long socks along with bundled boots, with the trimming jackets.
