Arshad Warsi is a well known Bollywood actor known for his exemplary performances in successful films like ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S.’, ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ and the most recent ‘Ishqiya’. Arshad is also a choreographer, TV presenter, playback singer and turned a producer with ‘Hum Tum Aur Ghost’.

Arsha Warsi was born on 19th April 1968 in Mumbai and attended the, Barnes School, Deolali in Nashik district. Unfortunately he lost his parents when he was fourteen and thus had to struggle for living. So he worked as doo to door salesman and later as an assistant in a photo lab. Arshad had a keen interest in dancing and therefore joined Akbar Sami’s dance group. Arshad Warsi won the Indian dance competition and subsequently earned fourth place in the Modern Jazz category in World Dance championship held in London. Arshad turned a choreographer and directed the title sequence of ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’. He also choreographed Bharat Dabholkar’s stage plays and later started his dance studio Awesome. Arshad worked as an assistant to Mahesh Bhatt in 1987 release films ‘Thikana’ and ‘Kaash’.

Arshad Warsi met Maria Goretti through his dance troupe and the two got married in the year 1999. Maria Goretti was a popular MTV VJ and currently hosts the show ‘Do It Sweet’ aired on NDTV Good Times channel. Arshad and Maria are blessed with a son named Zeke Warsi and a daughter named Zene Zoe Warsi.

Arshad turned into acting with Amitabh Bachchan’s debut production venture ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ alongside Chandrachur Singh, Priya Gill and Simran Bagga. Arshad was later seen in films like ‘Betaabi’, ‘Mere Do Anmol Rattan’, ‘Hero Hindustani’, ‘Hogi Pyar Ki Jeet’, ‘Trishakti’, ‘Ghaath’, ‘Mujhe Meri Biwi Se Bachao’, ‘Jeetenge Hum’, ‘Jaani Dushman’, ‘Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II’ and ‘Kuch Meetha Ho Jaaye’. However success eluded him until he appeared in a supporting role in the 2003 blockbuster ‘Munnabahai MBBS’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Gracy Singh.

Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed Rajkumar HIrani, the film became a superhit and Arshad won several awards for his portrayal of Circuit, including the coveted Filmfare bEst Supporting Actor Award. Arshad Warsi next appeared in a stride of successful comedy films including priyadarshan’s ‘Hulchul’ alongside Akshaye Khanna, Kareena Kapoor and Suniel Shetty, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal’ alongside Ajay Devgan, Sharman Joshi, Paresh Rawal, Tusshar Kapoor and Rmi Sen, Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and vIdya Balan, Rohit Shetty’s ‘Golmaal Returns’ alongside Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade and ‘Short Kut: The Con is On’ alongside Akshaye Khanna and Amrita Rao.

Arshad Warsi received Filmfare Best Comedian Award and Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’. He also won the GIFA Best Comedian Award for ‘Hulchul’. Arshad Warsi was nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Saif Ali Khan- Priety Zinta starrer ‘Salaam Namaste’.

Arshad Warsi won accolades for his riveting performance in the recently released ‘Ishqiya’ alongside Naseeruddin Shah and Vidya Balan. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, ‘Ishqiya’ fared well at the box office and was appreciated by the critics. Arshad Warsi turned a film producer with ‘Hum Tum Aur Ghost’, supposedly inspired from the Hollywood film ‘Ghostown’. The film starred himself, Diya Mirza and Sandhya Mridul in lead roles. Arshad Warsi will soon be seen in two much awaited films- ‘Munna Bhai Chale Amerika’ and ‘Golmaal 3’.
