Arun Vijay, one of the best looking Kollywood stars is most remembered for critically acclaimed performance in ‘Pandavar Bhoomi’ and ‘Iyarkai’. Arun Vijay is also a stunt co-ordinator and his well toned physique is a major reason for his huge popularity. Arun Vijay was born on 19 November 1976 to Vijayakumar and Muthukannu in Chennai. His father Vijaykumar is an eminent Tamil actor and a member of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Arun Vijay’s sisters Vanitha, Preetha and Sridevi are also well known actresses. Arun Vijay is married to Aarthi, daughter of Dr. N.S. Mohan.

Arun Vijay began his acting career with the mega hit ‘Murai Mappillai’ followed by successful films like ‘Priyam’, ‘Ganga Gowri’, ‘Kathirunda Kadhal’ and ‘Thulli Thirintha Kalam’. He starred opposite Rambha and Meena in moderately successful ‘Anbudan’ released in the year 2000. ‘Anbudan’ was a tragic love story wherein Arun Vijay played the character of an artist who earns his livelihood by selling his paintings on the roadside.
Arun Vijay played the lead role in Cheran’s commercial and critical hit ‘Pandavar Bhoomi’ co-starring Shahida, Rajkiran, Ranjith and Vijayakumar. His next release was ‘Iyarkai’ directed by S.P.Jananathan and starring Shaam, Arun Vijay, Seema Biswas, Kutti Radhika and Senthil. The film was based on Dostoyevsky's White Nights and earned immense critical acclaim and box office success. ‘Iyarkai’ won the prestigious National Award for the Best Feature Film in Tamil. Arun Vijay was later seen in moderately successful films like ‘Jananam’ alongside Priyanka Trivedi, Raghuvaran, Nassar and Vadivelu and Arjun’s ‘Thavam’ co-starring Vadivelu and Janakaraj. Arun Vijay gave a convincing performance V. Nithyakumar’s ‘Vedha’ , a story of two loving brothers who happen to fall in love with the same girl. Arun Vijay and Jerovadhan played the roles of two brothers while Sheela appeared as their love interest. Arun Vijay played a significant role in ‘Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu’ directed by Vijay Milton and produced by Cheran. ‘Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu’ starred Bharath, Arun Vijay, Mallika Kapoor and Deepu. The film was hugely inspired from Griffin Dunne’s 1997 Hollywood hit ‘Addicted to Love’ starring Matthew Broderick and Meg Ryan. ‘Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu’ was released in Telugu as ‘Maha Andamga Vunnavani Bhayam’. Arun Vijay starred in A. Venkatesh’s mega hit film ‘Malai Mala’ alongside Vedhika, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Kasthuri and Santhanam. The film had a successful hundred day run across many centres and thus was a box office hit. Arun Vjay later appeared in Majith’s Tamil action film ‘Thunichal’ also starring Ramana, Shiva Munjal and Swathika. His latest release was the action flick ‘Maanja Velu’ produced by his father Vijaykumar and directed by A. Venkatesh. The film was the remake of 2007 release superhit Telugu film ‘Lakshyam’ and managed to win the hearts of audiences as well as critics. Arun Vijay’s forthcoming film ‘Kaaval Thurai’ is expected to hit the floors anytime next month. It is believed that the film will repeat the team of the blockbuster film ‘Maanja Velu’.
