Atul Agnihotri
Atul Agnihotri is an Indian actor turned wrter- director who made his debut in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Sir’ and has directed a couple of films like ‘Dil Ne Jisa Apna Kaha’ and ‘Hello’. Born on 24th June, 1970, he faced the camera for the first time at an age of thirteen to play a child role in ‘Pasand Apni Apni’. In the year 1993, he made his adult debut alongside Pooja Bhatt and Naseeruddin Shah in ‘Sir’. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, ‘Sir’ was an average success at the box office but received rave reviews from the critics.

Atul Agnihotri won accolades for his performance in 1994 blockbuster ‘Aatish: Feel the Fire’. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, ‘Aatish: Feel the Fire’ was the remake of Chinese film ‘A Better Tomorrow’ starring Chow Yun-Fat, Ti Lung and Leslie Cheung. ‘Aatish: Feel the Fire’ also starred Sanjay Dutt, Karishma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Shakti Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Aditya Pancholi and Kader Khan.
Atul Agnihotri gave riveting performance in supporting roles in acclaimed films like Mehul Kumar’s ‘Krantiveer’ alongside Nana Patekar, Dimple Kapadia, Mamta Kulkarni, Danny Denzongpa and Paresh Rawal and Anil Matto’s ‘Yeshawant’ alongside Nana Patekar, Madhoo, Mohan Joshi and Shafi Inamdar. ‘Krantiveer’, besides being a major critical and commercial success, also received the coveted National Award, three Star Screen Awards and four Filmfare Awards.

Atul Agnihotri could not succeed as a solo hero, however he played pivotal roles in a number of films including Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Bambai Ka Babu’ alongside Kajol and Saif Ali Khan, Kamal Hassan’s ‘Chachi 420’ alongside Kamal Hassan, Amrish Puri, Tabu, Om Puri, Johnny Walker, Paresh Rawal, Ayesha Jhulka and Nassar, KK Singh’s ‘Veergati’ alongside Salman Khan and Divya Dutta, Rajkumar Kohli’s ‘Jaani Dushman : Ek Anokhi Kahani’ alongside an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Akshay Kumar, Raj Babbar, Sunny Deol, Sunil Shetty, Sonu Nigam, Johnny Lever, Rambha, Aftab Shivdasani, Aman Verma and Arshad Warsi. Atul Agnihotri played the male lead opposite Kajol in Feoz Irani’s ‘Hote Hote Pyar Ho Gaya’ while Jackie Shroff and Ayesha Jhulka played supporting roles. Atul was seen in a significant role in ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’ Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit. After acting in films for over a decade, Atul Agnihotri decided to venture into film direction. His directorial debut was the 2004 release ‘Dil ne Jise Apna Kaha’ starring Salman Khan, Priety Zinta, Bhoomika Chawla and Helen. Atul also wrote the story of ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha’ which was hugely inspired from the Hollywood film ‘Return to Me’ starring David Duchovny, Minnie Driver and Carroll O'Connor. Atul Agnihotri turned producer for the multistarrer contemporary film ‘Hello’ based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel ‘One Night at the Call Center’. Directed by Atul Agnihotri, ‘Hello’ starred an ensemble cast including Sohail Khan, Sharman Joshi, Arbaaz Khan, Isha Koppikar, Gul Panag, Amrita Arora, Sharat Saxena and Dalip Tahil. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif also made special appearances in the film. Atul Agnihotri is married to Alvira Khan and the couple is blessed with two children. Alvira Khan is the daughter of notable screen writer Salim khan and sister of bollywood superstars Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan. Alvira khan is a designer by profession and has worked as a costume designer for a couple of films including Salman Khan- Rani Mukherji starrer ‘Baabul’. Atul is planning to direct another film starring Salman Khan in the lead role; the film is supposedly a remake of the superhit Hollywood romantic- thriller ‘The Bodyguard’ starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.
