And baluchari sari is the name derived from the name of this village. The strong artistic values of Mughals are commonly displayed by patterns and designs of these sarees. In reign of Mughals, sarees were only worn by royal women. So saree was considered the symbol of royalty. And in the present time, that is why most of rich women and women from elite class wear sarees.

After the Mughals, Bengal received the heritage of this tradition and continued in the form of sarees. The pictorial views of sun, moon, stars and mythical scenes are portrayed on the border of these sarees. In India baluchari sarees became famous and popular two hundred years ago. The wide variety of colors like yellow, green, purple, dark red and chocolate makes it choice of women belonging to all age group.

Usually red, blue and scarlet colors are used for designing purposes. Most of the artisans, who design baluchari sarees, are from Muslim community. Court scenes, horse with a rider and smoking hookah are some scenes that are present on borders of these sarees. The architectural designs have plays an important role in the creation of sarees. So these saree gives you the representation of architectural background as well.

The weaving technique, tradition design and fabric is the specialty of baluchari sarees. So if you are going to purchase a saree then you must look these quality features in it. The price factor of baluchari sarees also varies with the quality of manufacturing. If quality of manufacturing or fabric is low then the price will be relatively low. But if want durability then you must go with higher quality and fabric which you might get only at a higher cost. Once you purchase baluchari sarees, they will remain with you throughout the life.
