Fashion industry is an ever changing phenomenon, to be a legend one has to constantly change and adapt to new trends. Barbara Tfank is one such person. Without any prior experience she entered fashion industry. She started her career as apprentice for the designer Cesarani. Under Cesarani she gained firsthand experience various basic aspects of designing a garment. Soon afterwards, Barbara Tfank started on her own as costume designer for some feature films and television commercials. Her work stood in the movies Dream Lover(1994) and also in Beautician and the Beast in 1997. Working in films and commercials helped her to think on her feet.

It is believed that more often Barbara Tfank draws her inspiration from her past experience in commercial movies. She started a company Barbara Tfank Inc in Los Angeles, CA in 2002. Barbara Tfank’s company offers Fashion Design Services with unique styling options. Also it allows creating their own design, with the help of their design experts. Anouk Aimee inspired Barabara Tfank for Spring 2008 line. Richly decorated shuttle-woven fabric in shades of white and silver dominated the line. Her collections are made of wide range of fabrics such as cane, bamboo, jute, linen, canvas, raw silk, brocade, leather and some metals like silver, but using them with different treatments. Barbara Tfank was inspired by Fern and Leger’s “Three Women”. Barbara Tfank is also known for her use of vibrant colours in her design. In her 2008 line she used shades of yellow and gold, along with vibrant colours like green, purple etc., to incorporate in her clothing line. Furthermore, she framed these colours in black shadowy background which led to extraordinary collection of cloths. Also her 2008 line is known for abundant use of wool, silk, nylon, or richly woven rayon silk fabric with interlacing golden threads. Thus her 2008 line brought her huge success and established her designs as classics.

Barbara Tfank’s most 2009 collection is a considered as resort collection, inspired by Liz Taylor. Radiant floral pattern with shades of blue and violet, with v-necks proved to be another success for Barbara Tfank. These patterns gave her line of dress a chic elegance. During 2010 season Barbara Tfank created a few of her own prints. Raoul Dufy, a fauvist painter who designed stationery for Paul Poiret and textiles were for the one and only Bianchini-Férier, Barbara Tfank’s inspiration for 2010 season. 2010 line consisted of frocks with floral pattern like Raoul Dufy creations. Three dresses- an off-shoulder dress complemented with a graceful pleated skirt which definitely looked fabulous in bright green print “morning-glory” and aquamarine; a long sleeves nipped-waist dress in lovely claret, emerald and navy; a plissé taffeta midnight dress with ribbon detailing and bodice-enhancing ribbon, was a trend setter among young and old. Also Barbara Tfank’scollections were brought by American first lady Michelle Obama. Her designs are not only beautiful and contemporary with asymmetrical and symmetrical tones and cuts which surely give them a fusion feel. Barbara Tfank’s tailoring is too crisp and the styling too fresh and everything is always coming up roses.
