He grew up in Amite and was able to attend at University of Southeastern Louisiana before he went to Dallas’ Art Institute to study merchandising and fashion designing. Billy Reid was able to show his very 1st collections in the year 1998. Retailing is in the blood of Billy Reid. He has been helping and grew up with his business minded mother in their own store named “T.J. for Her” in his hometown Amite. Billy Reid is using some of his offbeat and almost covered store of Nolita as Billy’s home ground.

The fashionable clothing of Billy Reid is expressly dandy, breaking southern classic such as starched button downs and crisp khakis. All with styling contemporarily just like a boy in fraternity who links school of arts links with the band group named GRUNGE. He was also named as the Best Women’s wear of the Year in GQ magazine’s March issue. Because of the awards, he had the chance to make a collection for the brand of Levi’s and it was a limited edition wherein Billy had the chance to uncover the New York’s Fashion’s Night Out sometime in September 2001. At present, this creative and fashion lover designer is creating more designs for Florence and running the business stores of his own in Dallas, Charlotte in North Carolina, Charleston in South California, Nashville in Tennessee, New York, Houston and Texas. Also, because the awards of Fashion Fund and CFDA are under the belt of Billy Reid, he got the chance to join lots of honored groups such as Trovota and Lazaro Hernandez, Rogan Gregory of Rogan, Sophie Theallet, Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler, Doo-Ri Chung and Alexander Wang.
