Bobby Deol, son of veteran actor Dharmendra and the younger brother of bollywood action supremo Sunny Del, is a well known bollywood actor. Originally named as Vijay Singh Deol, Bobby was born on January 27, 1967 to actor father Dharmendra and Mrs. Prakash Kaur. Bobby has three siblings, a brother and two sisters. His father later married actress Hema Malini and they have two daughters, Esha and Ahana. Bobby’s elder brother sunny deol, half sister Esha Deol and cousin aBhay dEol are well known bollywood actors. Bobby is married to Tanya Ahuja, daughter of Dev Ahuja, finance guru and owner of 21st Century Finance. The couple is blessed with two sons, Aryaman and Dharam.

Bobby Deol was first seen as a child artist in 1977 release ‘Dharam Veer’ wherein he played Dharmendra’s childhood. Bobby Deol made his acting debut in Rajkumar SAntoshi’s ‘Barsaat’. The movie was released in 1995 and also starred debutante Twinkle Khanna, daughter of actors Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia. ’Barsaat’ became a huge commercial success and Bobby received the Filmfare Best Male Debut Award. His breakthrough performance was seen in 1997 superhit ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’. Directed by Rajiv Rai, ‘Gupt: The Hidden Truth’ was acclaimed for its engaging plot and upbeat soundtrack. The film became a huge box office hit and Bobby cemented his position as an actor. Bobby was next seen opposite Aishwarya Rai in ‘Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya,’ that failed to do well at the box office. His next few films ‘Kareeb’, ‘Soldier’ and ‘Dillagi’ were moderately successful. Bobby appeared with his brother Sunny Deol in their home production ‘Dillagi’. Sunny’s directorial debut ‘Dillagi’ was not a smash hit though it was loved by the urbane and multiplex audiences. Bobby and Sunny later appeared in 2002 release ‘23rd March 1931: Shaheed’ and 2007 release ‘Apne’.
After appearing in a few flop films like ‘Badal’, ‘Hum To Mohabbat Karega’,‘Bichhoo’ ,‘Aashiq’ and ‘Kranti’, Bobby Deol starred in 2001 superhit ‘Ajnabee’ . A thriller directed by Abbas Mustan, ‘Ajnabee’ also featured Akshay Kumar, Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor. 2002 release ‘23rd March 1931: Shaheed’ received mixed reviews from the critics and could not fare well at the box office.Bobby Deol earned the Filmfare Best Actor Award nomination for his performance in Abbas-Mustan's romantic thriller Humraaz released in 2002. Bobby next appeared in many films that failed to do well critically as well as commercially.
In 2004, Bobby Deol starred in Anil Sharma’s multi- starrer ‘Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo’. The movie featured some of the eminent superstars of bollywood including Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar. Though the movie failed at box office, it is still considered Bobby’s best performance so far. After appearing in Yash Raj Films’ critically bombed film ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, Bobby gave a phenomenal performance i his home production’Apne’. Anil Sharma directed ‘Apne’ also featured his father Dharmendra and brother Sunny Deol. ‘Apne’ did huge business at the box office, especially in the overseas market. Bobby was last seen in Karan Johar’s romantic comedy ‘Dostana’ that became the highest grossing film in 2008. Bobby’s currently filming a couple of projects including the home production ’Yaamla Pagla Deewana’ and ‘Thank You’.
