Border embroidery is applying thread designs at the borders of your fabric. For example, you have a saree or a piece of cloth that you just want to add a little flavor to it. Have the right tools
To have the perfect border embroidery you have to have the right tools. First is to have a border embroidery hoop to keep the cloth or fabric in place. Make sure that you have a sharp, if possible new scissors that you will use in cutting the thread that you use in border embroidery. Embroidery floss is a must have as well. They are the thread to be used when you do border embroidery. They come in different length and colors. They come really cheap too! You need needles as well. There are needles designed only for embroidery and they have big eyes. And of course, don’t forget the piece of fabric or clothing which you will embroider.
Start your border embroidery
Secure the part of the clothing or fabric you want to embroider, in this instance the border part. Insert the border embroidery floss to the needle. The floss normally comes in group – so there are multiple strands in one thread. You may use them all or divide them depending on how many strands you want to use. Then you can start border embroidery.
Learn the stitches
There are several stitches that you can use in border embroidery. There is the running stitch which is good to use for designs. The backstitch that is great for design borders and texts. The split stitch which can give texture to your design – if you want to emboss a flower design in doing your border embroidery this stitch is perfect. The blanket stitch is also use for border. You can use this to enhance the edge of your fabric.
Follow or make your own pattern
It is easier to design the border if you already have a pattern to follow. You can just draw it to the cloth. Make sure that you use pencil so that the pattern marks.
