Carmen Marc Valvo who was born in 30 October 1953 came from a Spanish/Italian family in Westchester County, New York. His first envisioned profession was a plastic surgery, inspired by his father an anesthesiologist and his mother a nurse. He however attended Fine Arts at Manhattanville College and the Parsons The New School for Design. He was once not convinced that his interest in arts would extend his professional achievements. His life path drastically changed his view.

His early career as a designer for Nina Ricci in Paris and Christian Dior has responded to his real passion in fashion. Launching his own label Carmen Marc Valvo Couture in 1989, his Fall Collection reaped a huge success for his sportswear and evening wear in New York stores. He began to throw more fashion shows for his collections in response to a demanding market, especially celebrities and his respected clients. The economic crisis in 2008 did not stop his endeavors to present his creativity. His attempt to hold an intimate, relaxed, and economical fashion show at the Citrine club has overcome the issue. The mingling models with audience and cocktail reception inflicted an interactive and mutual atmosphere during the show. The estimated calculation of that event costed only half amount of the tent shows.

His collections of sunglasses, lingerie, swimwear, couture gowns, cocktail dresses, home décor and evening bags extend his brand image. His bridal collection released in 2010 adds more to his success story. His involvement in NCCRA (National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance) supported the research on the colon cancer disease he survived from. Due to his tremendous contribution, Katie Couric (an American journalist) awarded him the Advocate Award at a gala in March 2006 in New York. His encouragement campaign on early detection test for this disease was nationally broadcasted in 2008, with a co-appearance of Vanessa Williams.
