Fashion Designer Christian Dior
Christian Dior was born on 21st January, 1905 at Loire valley. Among 5 children from his family he was the second kid among his brothers and sister. He had different character from his brothers and sister, slight different behavior than other. He was a boy but his character was like girl; he used to help his mother in household works, he used to work all the stuffs like cleaning dishes and designing house and gardens.

Christian Dior’s family had thought that he would be a great diplomat but his mind was in other field, an artistic field where he succeed and generated name and fame. He used to sell his paintings and sketches of fashion designs for about ten cents per art. After his secondary school in 1928, Christian Dior was involved in opening art gallery. His friend and he sold a lot of paintings and sketches of Picasso to earn some amount of money. But due to financial crises to his family he was forced to shut down his art gallery. He then served as an assistant designer for Robert Piguet for more than a decade starting from early 1930s to 1940s. After a long involvement in fashion design, he had already filled his mind with lots of techniques of art and design and he was just in need of right time and opportunity.
 By then, he was called for the military service for his nation in 2nd World War which ended in 1942. He again joined the same profession with Lucien Lelong assisted by Pierre Balmain. He and Balmain worked as a prior designer for the boss. By December 16, 1942 Christian Dior started his own empire in fashion industry. Christian Dior was the master of designing dresses using quality fabrics and colors. He used to do these things using his own hands since there was no provision of modern machines then. Christian Dior used to say; “I have created a flower woman” He was excellent in producing new techniques to design a good and materialistic dress and outfits for people for which he was adored by every people around.
There was wide diversification of designs and art in his designs as he used different techniques for different clothes and dresses. Christian Dior always introduced new looks with starting of new season. His designs were always different from others like he used different geometrical shapes oval, zigzag or other shapes in the designs which showed a new look for each dress he introduced. Christian Dior died when he was on holiday at Montecatini, in Italy on 23rd October, 1957. Reporters had reported that he had died of heart attack. However, he was a legend of fashion design as he showed a new path for modernization in fashion design. Christian Dior was prior personnel in fashion history who proved the fashion design as proper installment of art and craft. “Innovation is must in Fashion design or it will be same like an old stuff lying around the corner” was his says. Although he died his designs are still alive in front of us showing a new path to fashion design.
