Christian Siriano

He is young, he is adorable, and he is an open gay, his vocabulary full of derogatory slurs about transgender and trailer park white women. But he is a heart throb of millions of women of all ages; he is a celebrity and the latest sensation to hit the fashion designing industry. Not many have established themselves in the competitive world of fashion and design as early as Christian Siriano. Today, at 26 years of age, Christian Siriano has already won Project Runway, worked for sports giants Puma, displayed his creations in New York Fashion Week, designed dresses for the shows, shoes, handbags, cell phone, make up line and written a book on style and fashion. The new kid on the United States of America's fashion bloc has arrived and he is here to stay.

Born in 1985 in Maryland, Christian Siriano was propelled by the support of his parents to follow arts and studied Ballet. His inspiration for costumes turned his attention towards fashion. At the age of thirteen, Christian Siriano was already designing clothes, while he was working as a hair washer at a local salon. Ironically, he was not accepted in the Fashion School of Technology, which prompted him to pursue his passion in London. During his study, Christian Siriano worked at Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen which stimulated his zeal even further.

After completing his graduation, he returned to USA, where his big break came in 2008, when he participated and won the reality show Project Runway. The name Christian Siriano was already a big hit, even before the ultimate triumph in the show finale.

Not every success is a fairytale story. Christian Siriano suffered a broken family in his early childhood, after the divorce of his parents, worked as a makeup artist and hair washer before he got his big break. But for Christian Siriano, the hard work and the passion for fashion designing was a propellant force to prevail over any and all hurdles that came in his way to achievement. His fans and clientele include big names like Victoria Beckham and Saks Fifth Avenue president Ron Frasch, the retail store that picked up his complete fall 2009 collection. Christian Siriano did not win accolades for his remarks about heterosexual culture, drawing comparisons between white women, trailer park trash and transgender. Later, he publicly apologized for his excessive use of derogatory slangs like 'tyranny'.
