Emanuel Ungaro and his magic with sewing machine have created wonders in the fashion industry. Emanuel Ungaro is a renowned French designer, was born on 13 February 1933.
He was born in Aix- in-Provence in France, to an Italian tailor. His father had immigrated to France from Brindisi territory because of the fascist revolution in Italy. Being the son of the tailor, he ensured that young Emanuel's first toy was a stitching appliance. Emanuel Ungaro thus from the very young age had the enthusiasm for needlework, evidently innate from the family. As a youth, he loved playing and creating varied combinations with colors.

At a young age of twenty-three the budding designer settled in Paris, the paradise of fashion, to fulfill his dream of being the most famous designer. In 1958 he began to design and work for the House of Cristobal Balenciaga for about three years. After spending six years with them, in 1965 Emanuel Ungaro opened his own haute-couture house with the support of proficient artist and designers. He created his own approach and structure of work and therefore imposed his sense of style and fashion in the international arena.
Emanuel Ungaro became well-known for his flamboyant use of styles, cuts and graceful draping, thus making it very appealing, flattering and also most importantly, making it incredibly comfortable garment for the person wearing it.
In 1968 he created the first pret a porter collection, Parallele and opened a flagship boutique, in Paris. After which for the next 30 years, the Emanuel Ungaro House began to flourish worldwide. It acquired a high profile celebrity following, including Jacqueline Kennedy and Catherine Deneuve, and the business developed healthily and prospered in various countries Emanuel Ungaro commenced his very first collection for menswear, in 1973 labeled as the Ungaro Uomo, and after ten years that is in 1983, launched his first fragrance Diva. That's where the keenness for fragrance was seen and thus later followed perfumes Ungaro, Emanuel Ungaro and Senso.
In 1988, Emanuel Ungaro married Laura Bernabei. He has a daughter, Cosima Ungaro.
He then formed a business in 1966 with his partner Salvatore Ferragamo. Emanuel Ungaro, Bulgari and Salvatore Ferragamo formed a whole new company in the year 1997: Parfums “Emanuel Ungaro”. The novel perfumes that followed were “Fleur de Diva”, “Desnuda” and “Apparition”. Emanuel Ungaro also launched many brands under his label from ready to wear, couture, Knitwear, beach wear; pour L'homme, Liberete, fragrance etc. In 2000 Emanuel Ungaro had 200 couture customers worldwide, of which 60 ordered him for every season. In 2005, Emanuel Ungaro retired from the fashion business and sold the label to businessman Asim Abdullah for about $84 million.
However he is always remembered as one of the best designers who have an international reputation for elite color blends and astounding designs and patterns in the industry. Emanuel Ungaro’s fashion is intrepid, vibrant, vivacious and effervescent .No wonder for forty years; his innovative design has graced Paris runways and still continues to dominate the fashion headlines even today.
