Emraan Hashmi

 
 

Emraan Hashmi was born on March 24, 1979 to Anwar Hashmi and Maherahh Hashmi in Mumbai. Filmmakers Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt are Emraan’s maternal uncles while actor turned writer-director-producer is his cousin. Emraan Hashmi attended the Maneckji Cooper Trust High School and later graduated from Sydenham College in Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi started his career as an assistant director to Mahesh Bhatt, Mukesh Bhatt and Vikram Bhatt during the filming of superhit films like ‘Raaz’ starring Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu and ‘Kasoor’ starring Aftab Shivdasani and Lisa Ray. Though Emraan was never very keen on pursuing acting as a career, he thought on giving it a shot on the advice of his uncle Mukesh Bhatt.

Emraan Hashmi was first seen in ‘Footpath’ alongside Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu and Rahul Dev. Though the film bombed at the box office, Emraan was appreciated for his debut performance, His first box office hit was the Bhatt’s ‘Murder’ opposite Mallika Sherawat. Best remembered for Emraan- Mallika’s sultry love making scenes, the film became a huge success and Emraan became popular for his kissing sequences in films that followed.

Emraan became the Kissing king of bollywood and later appeared in similar sequences alongside Dia Mirza in ‘Tumsa Nahin Dekha’, Udita Goswami in ‘Zeher’, Tanushree Datta in ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, Udita Goswami in ‘Aksar’, Nisha Kothari in ‘The Killer’, Geeta Basra in ‘Dil Diya Hai’ and ‘The Train’ etc.

Emraan Hashmi has appeared in many successful films, most of these films attained huge popularity owing to its soundtrack. Emraan Hashmi has appeared in different kind of characters from a lover boy to a con, a carefree youth to a dutiful police officer, Emraan has successfully ventured into all genres of cinema.

Emraan Hashmi has been nominated for many awards including Filmfare, Star Screen, Zee cine and IIFA Awards. His performance in ‘Gangster’ and ‘Kalyug’ received positive reviews. Emraan Hashmi cemented his position in the film industry with films like ’Good Boy Bad Boy’, ‘Jannat’ and ‘Raaz 2: The Mystery Continues’.

Emraan Hashmi has mostly starred in movies produced by the Bhatt camp and starring newcomer female actors. Emraan Hashmi has created a niche for himself and no one can ever replace him. Emraan Hashmi has grown as an actor over years, which is evident from his performances in films like ‘Awaarapan’, ‘Kalyug’ and ‘Gangster’. He was recently seen opposite Soha Ali khan in ‘Tum Mile’, a love story in the backdrop of notorious July 2005 Mumbai floods.

Brushing aside all the kissing controversies and link ups with female co-stars, Emraan Hashmi married long time Sindhi girlfriend Parveen Shahani. Parveen was a school teacher and the two dated for around four and a half years before finally tying the knot in 2007. The couple is blessed with a son named Ayaan.

Emraan will next be seen in Shamin Desai’s ‘Raftaar’, Milan Luthria’s ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ alongside Ajay Devgan, Prachi Desai and Kangana Ranaut and Mohit Suri’s ‘Crook: It's Good To Be Bad’. He will also play significant roles in Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’ and Warner Brother's next untitled film.
