Erdem Fashion Designer

Erdem is a famous fashion designer born in Montreal, Canada, in the year of 1977. His mother was a British woman where his father was a Turkish man. Due to this Erdem had to juggle between his Montreal and Birmingham homes during his growing up years. Erdem realized his passion for fashion at an early age itself and took BA in Fashion from the Ryerson University in Toronto. Soon after, Erdem was bestowed with an opportunity to work as an intern to Vivienne Westwood. However, he was looking for more opportunities to learn Fashion and eventually moved to London to continue his studies in Fashion. Erdem joined the famous Royal College of Art in London to pursue his studies. He successfully completed his Masters degree in 2003 from the same college.

It was the beginning of a successful career at that juncture. Erdem then decided that he is finally ready with his collection. He enrolled himself in the 2003 RCA show and showcased his beautiful designs. However, on his quest to excellence, Erdem decided to head for New York. He did the same and started working with the famous fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. Erdem finally decided that it is time for him to start his own label. For this, he left New York and came to his actual home town, London, in 2005. He was soon awarded with a cash prize namely Fashion Fringe prize worth £100,000. From this it is extremely clear that he was on top of his game and extremely talented as a fashion designer.

Now when we look at the major achievements of Erdem, we can see that he was quick to grab the accolades for his work. He was part of London Fashion Week shows for four times. Also, he was a recipient of Swarovski Council Fashion British Fashion Enterprise Award. This prestigious award came knocking at his door step in 2007. At the moment, he is one of the most sought after designers in the world and his designs are in demand across the globe. Erdem is selling his designs in his own name, i.e. “Erdem” and his designs are a huge hit across the famous departmental stores. He is a winner of number of prestigious awards, in that, BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund award (2010) is the most shining award considering it is the biggest award given in U.K. for the fashion designers. With a string of awards, Erdem has successfully carved a niche for himself and is one of the most famous designers in the fashion scene, right now.

According to the “Evening Standard”, published from London, Erdem is one of the 1000 influential peoples living in London. These numerous prestigious awards are indeed a huge compliment towards his unmistakable talent in the field of fashion. At present, he is located in east London. Erdem has built his studio in Bethnal Green. Erdem is a brother to a twin sister who is a documentary film maker who has achieved some remarkable work in natural history and geography. Sienna Miller, Kiera Knightly etc are some of the celebrities who have adorned his designs. The names do not end there; there are other numerous celebrities like Thandie Newton, Erin O’Conner, Chloe Sevigny, Claudia Schiffer, Michelle Obama etc as his elite clients.
