Etching Embroidery

The All New Designs of Etching Embroidery

Etching embroidery was genuinely called the print work because of the effect of the work on the piece of material it is done. The etching embroidery was most famous and the most sought for in the 19 th century when the people wanted to have a shade of color to their threadwork, because all the other kinds of embroidery only give an embossed or a simple needlework effect but never a printed effect as if a design has been stamped on the material rater than being worked out with thread. The most beautiful part of etching embroidery is that it can have many shades of the same color like black which is the most common of the colors for this embroidery.

The etching embroidery is mostly used for making cloth pictures for framing and decorating the interior décor of every household. The material on which the thread work was done was usually of satin or silk because the idea was the result of the inspiration taken from the Chinese thread work for framing pictures. The Chinese used to make pictures of sceneries and Pagodas on silk cloth and with various silk threads to make the work look more glamorous and luxurious. Similarly, the etching embroidery is also done on silk cloths and with silk threads to give the perfect shade. The style of embroidery is also called filled-in embroidery due to its style of filling to give a shade.

The etching embroidery is most commonly done in the black and white color to give the original and traditional look to the work of art. To start the etching embroidery, one has to first draw a complete sketch of the motif or scenery, which is to be embroidered, and then hold a brush to paint the parts according to their shades and colors leaving the whites ones alone because the cloth used for embroidery is mostly white. Then get the threaded needle and starts embroidering the motif with lose stitch for the medium shaded parts and the close stitch for the darker ones.

One thing is very important in etching embroidery; that every figure should be stitch in a different style, like the water should be stitched in straight lines while the trees should be stitched crossly. These different styles of stitches make the shades differentiate between every figure and every shape accordingly without much trouble. The shades are also accordingly different because of the style of the stitch. French knots and Crewel stitches are also part of the etching embroidery because of the shades to be given to every picture. If the color should be dark black, the stitch should be Crewel Stitch so that the closely done stitch makes the shade appear darker because the underlying white cloth’s shade does not appear at all to the viewer.

The etching embroidery is still very famous today but in multi-colored threads picture and is almost acclaimed by every women to complete the décor of her household. These pictures are the traditional remembrance of the Chinese as well as the English embroidery which made it so famous.
