The Revision of Gap in the Spring and Fall Collection 2011

The Spring collection from Gap that moved down the ramp was entirely sophisticated and sexy. Patrick Robinson, the creative director to Gap, seems not to be the only one who was thinking of the designer brand as a casual weekend-wear. Prior to the presentation, the designer exclaimed that the brand used to be just one of the parts in the lives of people, but he has turned it into a 7 days a week affair.

Robinson views the Spring collection to be the final nail to his efforts of 4 years of re-creating the brand for its hold on the hearts of consumers. The new collection from Gap has received an introduction to new and smooth tailoring touches, with the blouses being kept aside. There is a completely fresh knitwear consciousness to the body, but for most of the customers the most significant and clear signs of changes have been brought in the way he has worked with denim. The women’s denim collection consists of a look that is thoroughly elongated with fit thighs and flared ankles. And, then the designer had even worked with the colors of denim – a completely fresh blue, which is bluer than ever and that too on a base of contrasting soft white.

The Gap designer adds that what he has added to the brand is meticulously crafted accuracy. One doesn’t find the single sweater in different colors on the Gap table. In place of the multiple colors, the London show witnessed particular pieces, with one of the most striking one being the keyhole backed cocktail dress in white silk crepe. Another surprise was the large patch pocketed elongated cotton skirt in white coupled with top that was cap-sleeved to create a beautiful evening wear. The new ‘edition’ from Gap was stunning for everyone, and consumers will certainly have to view the brand from a new perspective.

Gap

The latest Fall collection from Gap was displayed at the brand’s headquarters in Tribeca after the Tokyo fashion show as put down because of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The new collection from Robinson was also focused towards elevating the brand. With Gap having strongly established its black pants collection, Robinson is now seemed to be focused towards giving a menswear touch to the brand’s latest collection with features being displayed consisting of pinstripes and Prince of Wales checks. The range of fresh denim work consisted of pants with 5 pockets, leggings, a 60s whiff-containing A-line shift and a pencil skirt.

The mixed collection from Gap consisted of pieces that were more close to the ‘Gap’ philosophy – the meeting of the modern and the old, but this range also had some surprising elements. There were denim-washed khakis, faded to give a lived-in appearance, pure button-down plaid, and askew cables on the sweater. More is in store for the denim collection from Gap, as Robinson exclaimed that consumers can expect a more formal element in the coming spring. The same story line seemed to be going for the men’s Fall collection as well.
