Jugal Hansraj is an Indian actor who has appeared in films like ‘Masoom’, ‘Mohabbatein’ etc and has recently turned director films like ‘Roadside Romeo’ and ‘Pyar Impossible’. Born on 26 July 1972, Jugal Hansraj was a popular child actor during the eighties and appeared in films like ‘Masoom’, ‘Karma’ and ‘Sultanat’.

Jugal Hansraj first appeared in Shekhar Kapur’s directorial debut ‘Masoom’ based on Eric Segal’s novel Man, Woman and Child. The film also starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Supriya Pathak, Tanuja and Saeed Jaffrey. Jugal Hansraj played the character of Naseeruddin Shah’s son born out of an extra-marital relationship. Urmila Matondkar was also seen as a child artist in the film. Jugal Hansraj was later seen in Subhash Ghai’s 1986 superhit ‘Karma’ starring Dilip Kumar, Nutan, Jackie Shroff, Anil Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Sridevi and Poonam Dhillon. He also starred alongside s Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Sridevi, Karan Kapoor and Juhi Chawla in Mukul S Anand’s ‘Sulatanat’.

Jugal Hansraj made his adult debut in Hamid Ali Khan’s ‘Aa Gale Lag Jaa’ opposite Urmila Matondkar who played his sister in ‘Masoom’. The film was an average success and Jugal’s performance was well received. Jugal Hansraj next starred in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Papa Kehte Hai’ alongside Mayuri Congo, Tiku Talsania, Anupam Kher, Aloknath, Shuhasni Mule and Reema Laago. The film became a superhit and the soundtrack won rave reviews.
Jugal Hansraj’s breakthrough performance was seen in Yash Raj Films’ ‘Mohabbatein’ released in the year 2000. Directed by Aditya Chopra, ‘Mohabbatein’ revolved around the love stories of three teen couples played by Jugal Hansraj- Kim Sharma, Uday Chopra- Shamita Shetty and Jimmy Shergill- Preeti Jhangiani. Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played significant roles in ‘Mohabbatein’ that became one of the top grosser of the year and won several coveted awards. Jugal Hansraj has acted in several successful films in supporting yet pivotal roles in films like Karan Johar’s blockbuster family drama ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ alongside It features Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji and Siddharth Anand’s ‘Salaam Namaste’ alongside Saif Ali Khan, Priety Zinta, Arshad Warsi and Tania Zaetta. Jugal Hansraj played a significant role in Madhuri Dixit’s comeback film ‘Aaja Nach Le’. Directed by Anil Mehta and produced by Aditya Chopra, ‘Aaja Nach Le’ was a musical drama also starring Akshaye Khanna, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Kunal Kapoor in supporting roles. The multi talented actor Jugal Hansraj has also worked as a playback singer and in fact composed the first few lines of the title track of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, Karan Johar’s directorial debut. Jugal is close friends with Karan Johar and randomly sang out the song that became a blockbuster hit and is considered one of the best romantic songs till date. Jugal Hansraj is also very close to Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra and thus recently turned director for the Yash Raj Films’ production house. He made his writer- director debut with ‘Roadside Romeo’, computer-animated film starring Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Javed Jaffrey. He recently directed Priyanka Chopra- Uday Chopra starrer new age romantic comedy ‘Pyar Impossible’.
