Karunas is a popular Tamil actor known for his comic excellence and satirical humor. Karunas has starred in several blockbuster films alongside top line actors. Karunas is also a well known musician and playback singer. Born as Karunanidhi on February 21, 1970 in Pudukottai, Tamil Nadu, Karunas attended the Palangudi Bharathi School and later graduated from Nandanam Arts, Presidency College. Though he started his career as a dancer and pop singer, he eventually joined films as an actor. Karunas is married to singer Grace and they are blessed with a son and a daughter.

Karunas forayed into films as a supporting actor in Bala’s 2001 release ‘Nandha’ alongside Surya, Laila and Rajkiran. Karunas next appeared in pivotal roles in films like Vijaya T. Rajendar’s ‘Kadhal Azhivathillai’ alongside Silambarasan and Charmi, SS Stanley’s ‘April Maadhathil’ alongside Srikanth and Sneha, Suresh Krishna’s ‘Baba’ starring Rajinikanth, Manisha Koirala and Goundamani, Subaash’s ‘123’ co-starring Prabhu Deva, Raju Sundaram, Nagendra Prasad and Jyothika.
 Karunas worked with notable directors like K.S. Ravikumar, A. Venkatesh, S.P.Jananathan, Bala, S. S. Stanley, S. J. Suryaah, Saran, A. K. Lohithadas, S.P.Jananathan, Kasthuri Raja, Boopathy Pandian, Ram, Vetrimaran, S. Selvam, among others. Karunas shared the screen space with leading South Indian actors, namely Rajnikanth, Kamal Hassan, Shaam, Srikanth, Sadha, Karthik, Dhanush, Jeeva, Silambarasan, Divya Spandana, Arun Vijay, Nayantara, Shriya Saran, Seema Biswas, Ajith Kumar, Meena, Kiran Rathod, Ramya Krishnan, Sherin, Meera Jasmine, Raghuvaran, Ameesha Patel, Ajith Kumar, Sneha, Prasanna, Priyamani, Prashanth etc.
Karunas played significant roles in blockbuster films like Subramniya Siva’s ‘Thiruda Thirudi’ co-starring Dhanush and cHaya Singh, Saran’s ‘Attagasam’ alongside Ajith Kumar and Pooja, Vetrimaran’s ‘Polladhavan’, also starring Dhanush, Divya Spandana and Daniel Balaji, Madhumitha’s ‘Vallamai Tharayo’ starring Parthiban, Chaya Singh and Srikanth, Mithran Jawahar’s ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ alongside Dhanush, Nayantara and Karthik Kumar.
Karunas was seen in the multiple awards winning film ‘Pithamagan’ directed by Bala, also starring Vikram, Surya, Sangeetha, Laila and Simran. The film was a huge success and won one National Award, six Filmfare Awards and Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. Karunas appeared alongside an ensemble cast including Kamal Haasan, Prabhu, Sneha, Jayasurya, Prakash Raj and Nagesh in ‘Vasool Raja MBBS’ directed by Saran. The film was a remake of the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ starring Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Gracy Singh and BOman Irani.
Karunas was later seen in Ram’s ‘Kattradhu Thamizh’ alongside Jeeva and Anjali and Saravanan’s ‘Silambattam’ starring Silambarasan, Sneha, Sana Khan and Prabhu. While ‘Kattradhu Thamizh’ won Filmfare Awards, Film Critics’ Awards and Vijay Awards, ‘Silambattam’ also received several honors at the International Tamil Film Awards, Isaiyaruvi Tamil Music Awards, Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and Vijay Awards.
Karunas played the lead role in Subramaniam Pillai’s Tamil drama film ‘Dindigul Sarathy’ also starring Karthika, Livingston, Nassar and Saranya. His recent hits include Raju Eswaran’s ‘Panchamirtham’ alongside Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Nassar and Aravind Akash, K.V. Anand’s action thriller ‘Ayan’ alongside Surya, Tamannah, Prabhu and Akashdeep Saighal and Sakthi Chidambaram’s ‘Rajadhi Raja’ starring Lawrence Raghavendra, Kamna Jethmalani and Kiran Rathod.
Karunas’s forthcoming films include ‘Ambasamudram Ambani’, ‘Pournami Naagam’, ‘Kaadhalukku Maranamillai’, ‘Thanga Meengal’ and ‘Maharaja’ etc. He is also playing pivotal roles in Badri Venkatesh’s ‘Baana Kaathadi’ and S. Shankar’s science fiction ‘Endhiran’ alongside Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa.
