Bengali beauty Koena Mitra is a model turned actress famed for her riveting dance performances in Bollywood and tollywood films. Koena Mitra was born on 7 January 1978 in Kolkatta. Koena attended the South Point High School and later joined theLady Brabourne College in Calcutta. Koena mItra is a trained dancer and has been associated with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for over 12 years. Koena Mitra has also received training in other dance forms like Latin and Hip Hop.

Koena Mitra shot to fame by performing the popular dance number ‘Khullam Khulla’ alongwith ace choreographer Ganesh Acharaya in Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Road’ starring Vivek Oberoi’ and Antara Mali. Koena was next seen in a special appearance in Dharani’s Tamil film ‘Dhool’ starring Vikram, Jyothika and Reema Sen in lead roles. Koena did supporting roles in 2003 release ‘Blackmail’ alongside ajay Devgan, Suneil Shetty, Priyanka Chopra and Diya Mirza and Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Musafir’ alongside Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Sameera Reddy.
Koena’s first film in a leading role was Rangita Pritish Nandy’s ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’. Directed by Suparn Verma, the film starred Feroz Khan, Fardeen Khan, Koena MItra, Kay Kay Menon, Rohit Roy and Gulshan Grover in lead roles. Koena next starred alongside Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha Deol and Lara Dutta in K. Subhash’s ‘Insan’.
Koena was appreciated for her comic timing in Sangeeth Sivan’s ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’. Produced by Subhash Ghai ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ became a box office success. The star cast included actors like Anupam Kher, Ritesh Deshmukh, Suneil Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Shreyas Talpade, Celina Jaitley, Riya Sen and Chunky Pamdey. kOena mItra has also appeared in films like ‘Cash’, ‘Heyy Babyy’, ‘Agar’ and ‘Shaadi No. 1’.
Koena mItra played a villanious role in Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Anamika’ released in 2008. Supposed to be a remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1940 release film ‘Rebecca’, ‘Anamika’ starred Dino mOrea, Minisha Lamba and Aarti Chhabria in lead roles. Koena mItra performed the song "Honey Honey" as an item number in 2009 Tamil action thriller film ‘Ayan’ written and directed by K. V. Anand.
Koena Mitra is expected to be seen in an untitled Bengali film being made for the festival circuit.
