Konkona Sen Sharma is a critically acclaimed Indian actress and daughter of notable actress and filmmaker Aparna Sen. Born on 3rd December, 1979 in New Delhi, Konkona Sen Sharma is known for her remarkable acting skills especially in the parallel cinema. Konkona’s father Mukul Sharma is a well known science writer and journalist while mother Aparna Sen is an award winning filmmaker. Konkona attended the Modern High School for Girls and Calcutta International School in Kolkatta. She later earned a degree in English from the reputed St. Stephen's College, New Delhi.

Konkona first appeared on silver screen as a child artist in 1983 release ‘Indira’. Her first leading role was seen in Bengali film ‘Ek Je Aachhe Kanya’ wherein she played a negative character. Konkona received the Best Actress Award for ‘Ek Je Aachhe Kanya’ at the Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards. She next appeared in Rituparno Ghosh's critically acclaimed film ‘Titli’ alongside Mithun Chakraborty and mother Aparna Sen. Konkona Sen Sharma received her first National Award for the Best Actress in 2003 for her pioneering performance in English film ‘Mr. and Mrs. Iyer’ opposite Rahul Bose. Directed by her mother Aparna Sen, the film was well received by the audiences and applauded by the critics. Konkona was next seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s award winning film ‘Page 3’ in 2005. Portraying the character of a journalist, Konkona became a well known face and won the Best Actress Award at the Kalakar Awards.
Konkona gave another praiseworthy performance as a mentally challenged won in ’15 Park Avenue’ and a village woman in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’. Konkona received her second National Award for the Best supporting Actress and a Filmfare Supporting Actress Award for ‘Omkara’. She also received AIFA Special Recognition Award 2007 for ‘15, Park Avenue’. Konkona made her directorial debut in ‘Naamkoron, ’a Bengali short film with a run time of 18 minutes. The film was featured at the Kala Ghoda Film Festival. Konkona later appeared in Rituporno Ghosh’s art drama ‘Dosar’ which was premiered and honored at a number of international film festivals. Konkona garnered herself the Best Actress Award for ‘Dosar’ at the Mahindra Indo-American Arts Council (MIAAC) Film Festival.
Konkona’s next projects included Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Traffic Signal’ and Anurag Basu’s ‘Life in a ...Metro’. Both the films received positive reviews and did reasonably well at the box office. Konkona won her second Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress Category for ‘Life in a ...Metro’. Konkona starred in Yash Raj Film’s two ventures, namely ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag’ and ‘Aaja Nach Le’. Though both these films turned to be commercial and critical failures, Konkona still managed to receive positive reviews. Konkana’s ‘Dil Kabaddi’ directed by Anil Sharma was premiered at various film festivals but could not do well at the box office. Konkona continued her stride of laurels with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luck by Chance’ and Ayan Mukherji’s ‘Wake up Sid’. She was recently seen in a comedy flick ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’ alongside established actors Ajay Devgan and Paresh Rawal. Konkona’s upcoming movies include Rituparno Ghosh's ‘Sunglass’, Aparna Sen's ‘Iti Mrinalini’ and Aditya Chopra's ‘Mumbai’. Konkona Sen Sharma is engaged to actor Ranvir Shorey and the two were recently seen together in Atul Kumar's stage play ‘The Blue Mug’ alongside Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Sheeba Chadha.
