Mona & Pali – Sister Duo With A Sole Attitude MONA AND PALI Mona & Pali as they are affectionately known are a sister duo from Bengal who have been prominent designers for the past 2 decades. Originally from Kolkatta, one of the sisters Mona Lomba, took to school teaching while her sister Pali Sachdev who had a law background went on to Singapore to take rigorous training in fashion technology. Mona & Pali started their own boutique called “MonaPali” in Kolkatta in 1985 during those times when branded or labeled clothing was not very common. They started off doing designing for friends from home and when their innovation took a different dimension, Mona and Pali transformed themselves into stalwart designers which the industry looks upon.

Mona & Pali have explored every possible dimension of creativity by using materials as diverse as terracotta to mouli to ropes, from shellac and wooden buttons to cords to ceramic to gauze.
Mona & Pali are also so revered for their discerning attempt to revive several of the long forgotten art forms and techniques of Indian heritage. Traditional methods of embroidery, dyeing, printing and embellishments like Madhubani, Phulkari, Worli, Pattchitra, Alpana and the like have been brought back to life by this duo. Intrinsic art forms on fabric like Bagh, gota, Zari and Zardozi have also been resurrected by Mona & Pali.
Mona & Pali have taken part in many shows all over the country; moreover they have been regular invitees for the many shows organized by the Government of India and by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Apart from these shows across India, Mona & Pali have been traveling across the globe from China to Singapore, United States to Canada to London and have taken part in several events and shows.
Mona & Pali have participated in the prestigious “International” Fashion Week held in New Delhi in 2002 this is where they got to share stage with several eminent personalities of the Fashion Industry across the world. They have also won many an award for presenting best solo shows ever in Mumbai, Kolkatta, New Delhi, Ahmedabad etc.
Internationally renowned figures like Aishwarya Rai, Patrick Swayze, Sushmita Sen, Aparna Sen, Tina Ambani, Nikki Bedi, Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla, Lady Swaraj Paul, Tabu, Kiran Kher and the like are just some of Mona & Pali’s clientele.
