A National Film Award winner for the Best Costume for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’, Neeta Lulla is known for her regal and flamboyant designs. Neeta Lulla graduated in Dressmaking and Apparel Construction from PV Polytechnic SNDT University in the year 1985 and started her career as the assistant of India’s leading choreographer Jeanne Nowroji. Her first film as the costume designer was ‘Tamacha’ starring Kimi Katkar and Bhanupriya and since then Neeta has designed for around three hundred fifty films.

Neeta Lulla completed a record 375 costumes in mere fifteen days for the Miss World beauty pageant in Bangalore. Extremely passionate about bridal wear, Neeta owns an exclusive trousseau consultancy. Besides films, she has also designed for music videos and television shows. Neeta Lulla’s creations have been showcased by the Qatar foundation headed by the Queen of Qatar. Neeta Lulla has served as the guest faculty at the Fashion Co-ordination department of SNDT for over seventeen years.
Neeta Lulla has created a diverse array of costumes whether it is the impeccable look of Sridevi in ‘Chandni’ or the undertone colors of Maniratnam’s ‘Yuva’, the exquisiteness of Aishwarya Rai in ‘Devdas’ or the royal designs in ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, Neeta Lulla has excelled in all genres. Neeta Lulla has designed for popular films like Chandni, Lamhe, Hum Hain Raahi Pyar Ke, Khalnayak, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Virasat, Jeet, Major saab, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, Yuva, Raincoat, Garv, Kisna, ankahee, Baabul, Jodha Akbar and What’s Your Rashee. She is presently creating costume designs for Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se, The Desire and Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi.
With around 350 movies to her credit, Neeta Lulla has been honored with two National Film Awards for the Best Costume for Yash Chopra’s ‘Lamhe’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’. She also received the IIFA Best Costume Design Award and the Zee Cine Award for Best Costume for her riveting designs in ‘Devdas’. In addition to displaying her collections at the LIFW and WIFW, Neeta Lulla has showcased her designs in countries like US, Canada, Monte Carlo and Rome. She has worked on international projects, namely ‘One Night with the King’, wherein she designed for Omar Sharif and Peter O'Toole. She also designed Aishwaya’s look for Gurinder Chadha’s English film ‘The Mistress of Spices’ and a couple of other Hollywood films.
Neeta Lulla’s clientele includes bollywood celebrities and well known socialites. Her exquisite designs that blend together the simplicity of craftsmanship and an exuberance of colors have been appreciated all over the globe. Her forte being bridal wear and regal ensemble, she launched her flagship store in Mumbai to move a step further in the mainstream fashion industry. Her store feature two labels- bridal lounge called the Neeta Lulla Coutre and diffusion line known as the Neeta Lulla Nishq.
