Patchwork Embroidery

The Extravagance of Patchwork Embroidery

Patchwork embroidery is the traditional style of embellishment handmade by the women of the sub-continent to make various different clothes as well as furniture covering. Mostly, what people think of embroidery is the thread work done on clothes and on the outlines of the collar and cuffs as well as on the outlines of the sleeves and the bottom of every shirt, but patchwork embroidery is quite different from the usual embroidery done because patchwork embroidery is the stitching of a whole patch of cloth on the dress or any other piece of cloth to make it look beautiful as well as extravagant. People usually think of patchwork embroidery to give a very bad appearance to the whole material because it will show a separate piece being stitch to another fabric.

Patchwork embroidery is done in a very unique manner. First a small piece of cloth is taken and a particular pattern of embroidery is done on it. Usually, the thread work is a motif made with needlework by hand. The patch is not only embellished with thread work, but the thread is also accompanied with stones and gemstones of various sparkling colors as well as of glittering shades. Once the patch is completed, it is stitched with thread needlework to another bigger piece of fabric like a lace, but this lace is fully embellished with multiple things and not only one kind of thread or stitch like the typical lace. Many people think that patchwork embroidery is a much more difficult as well as a time consuming embroidery to be done because first you make a patch, decorate it with thread, stones and gemstones and then you stitch the patch to another material, but it is nothing like that because making a small piece of patch is much easier than embroidering a whole piece of dress at the same time. If you are making the patch and you are tired of consistently sitting, then you can also take the patch and the ring for embroidering along as you walk because tying the gemstones does not require a lot of precision and improvising. You can easily and without worrying stitch the stones to the patch because then your first stitch is very important and the rest of the stitches take the lead by themselves.

If you want to stitch the patchwork embroidery with finesse, then you should apply a very intricate method, which calls for you to be very attentive for a while only. First you should decide where you are want the patchwork embroidery to be stitched, and then start stitching from one corner and then proceed slowly till the end. Make sure that you make the outline ion a very neat and precise manner because the outline will determine the finesse of your work. If you stitch the patchwork embroidery in close stitches then the patch will not appear as a separate piece of cloth, but otherwise it will. So your neatness of the work matters a lot in the case of patchwork embroidery just as it is highly recommended in all the other embroideries.

It is not only your clothes where you can stitch the patchwork embroidery; rather you can easily stitch the embellished patch anywhere you want like bags, cushion covers, bed sheets or any of the furniture coverings you want to embellish. So go ahead and make every nook and cranny of your house luxurious by the patchwork embroidery.
