Pawan Kalyan, popularly known as the Power Star is a well known Telugu actor and director. Best remembered for films like ‘Tholi Prema’ , ‘Thammudu’ , ‘Badri’, Khushi and ‘Jalsa’, Pawan Kalyan has also written and directed ‘Johny’ starring himself opposite his wife Renu Desai. Born as Konidela Kalyan on 2 September 1971 in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan is the brother of eminent actor turned politician Chiranjeevi and actor- producer Nagendra Babu.

Pawan Kalyan was earlier married to Nandini but the two got divorced in the year 2008 and Pawan later married Renu Desai. Renu Desai is a well known Telugu actress and the two have appeared together in films like ‘Johny’ and ‘Badri’. Renu and Pawan were in a live in relationship and had a son named Akira. They got married after Pawan officially separated from his wife. The couple is also blessed with a baby girl named Aadhya.
Pawan Kalyan made his acting debut in Allu Aravind‘s ‘Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi’ opposite Akkineni Nageswara Rao’s granddaughter Supriya and later appeared in Muthyala Subbaiah’s ‘Gokulamlo Seetha’ opposite Raasi. Pawan Kalyan rocked the box office with two consequent blockbusters- ‘Suswagatham’ and ‘Tholi Prema’.
Directed by Bheemaneni Sreenivasa Rao, ‘Suswagatham’ also starred Devayani and ran for more than 100 Days in 16 centres. He played the male lead opposite Keerthi Reddy in A. Karunakaran’s romantic hit ‘Tholi Prema’. The film was dubbed into Tamil as ‘Aanandha Mazhai’ and remade into Hindia as ‘Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai’ starring Kareena Kapoor and Tusshar Kapoor. Pawan Kalyan next starred in P.A. Arun Prasad’s ‘Thammudu’ also starring Preeti Jhangiani, Aditi Govitrikar, Achyuth, Chandra Mohan, Mallikarjuna Rao.

Pawan Kalyan starred in the mega hit ‘Badri’ alongside Amisha Patel and Renu Desai. Directed and written by Puri Jagannadh and produced by T. Trivikrama Rao, ‘Badri’ became a box office and had a hundred days run in forty two Centres. His next film ‘Kushi’ co-starring Bhumika Chawla, directed by S.J. Suryah did record- breaking business in Andhra Pradesh. In fact the film had a golden jubilee in 101 centres, completed hundred days run in 79 centres and a one hundred seventy five-day run in five centres.
Pawan Kalyan plunged into film direction with the 2003 release ‘Johny’ starring himself, Renu Desai and Raghuvaran. The film was produced by Allu Aravind and somehow failed to do well at the box office. Pawan Kalyan also wrote the story and screenplay for ‘Johny’. He next appeared in his brother’s ‘Gudumba Shankar’ also starring Meera Jasmine, Ashish Vidyarthi and Sayaji Shinde.
A. Karunakaran’s ‘Balu ABCDEFG’ starring Pawan Kalyan, Shriya and Neha Oberoi opened to negative reviews and failed to win the hearts of cine goers. However Pawan Kalyan returned with the superhit ’Bangaram’ directed by Tamil director Dharani. Based on the life and dreams of a TV journalist played by Pawan Kalyan, ‘Bangaram’ also starred Meera Chopra, Raja, Reema Sen, Ashutosh Rana, Mukesh Rishi and Shakeela.
Pawan Kalyan was last seen in Allu Aravind’s ‘Jalsa’ written and directed by Trivikram Srinivas. Released in April 2008, ‘Jalsa’ starred Pawan Kalyan, Ileana D'Cruz and Parvati Melton. ‘Jalsa’ had a terrific opening at the box office and eventually became a superhit. Pawan Kalyan is presently S. J. Surya’s ‘Komaram Puli’ alongside Nikesha Patel, Nassar and Girish Karnad and the remake of Imtiaz Ali’s blockbuster Bollywood film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor.
