Prabhas is one of the most popular Tollywood actors known for his award winning performances in blockbuster Telugu films like ‘Varsham’ and ‘Chatrapati’. Prabhas was born as Prabhas Raju Uppalapati to U Suryanarayana Raju and Siva Kumari on 23rd October 1979 in Chennai. He has two siblings, a brother Prabodh and a sister Pragathi. He is the nephew of politician Krishnam Raju Uppalapati.

Prabhas started his tollywood journey in the year 2001 by playing the lead role in ‘Eshwar’ and later appeared in Suresh Krishna’s ‘Raghavendra’ alongside Swetha Agarwal and Anshu. Prabhas played the male opposite Trisha Krishnan in the 2004 blockbuster ‘Varsham’ directed by Sobhan. ‘Varsham’ bears very close resemblance to the mythological epic ‘Ramayana’ and was honored with several awards including eight Santhosham Awards and three Filmfare Awards including the best Film of the Year. Prabhas also won the Santhosham Best Young Performer Award for ‘Varsham’. The superhit film was remade into Tamil by S Rajkumar titled ‘Mazhai’ starring Jayam Ravi and Shriya Saran. Prabhas continued the success stride with Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Chakram’ alongside Charmme Kaur, Asin Thottumkal, and Prakash Raj.

Prabhas’s breakthrough performance was seen in the sensational hit ‘Chatrapati’ written & directed by S.S. Rajamouli. The film also starred Shriya Saran, Bhanupriya, and Pradeep Rawat in significant roles. The film ran for more than hundred days across fifty four centres and is an all-time high grosser movie in Telugu after Joseph Vijay’s ‘Pokkiri’. Prabhas won huge acclaim for his performance and received a nomination for Filmfare Best Telugu Actor Award.

Prabhas next appeared in commercially successful films like Vamsi Paidipally’s ‘Munna’ alongside Ileana D'Cruz, Prakash Raj and Kota Srinivasa Rao, Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Bujjigadu’ alongside Trisha Krishnan, Sanjana, Kota Srinivasa Rao and Mohan Babu and Meher Ramesh’s ‘Billa’ also starring Anushka Shetty, Namitha, Krishnam Raju, Rahman, Hansika Motwani and Jayasudha.

Prabhas’s recent release ‘Darling’ is a super success at the box office and has earned rave reviews for Prabhas. Directed by A. Karunakaran, ‘Darling’ also features Kajal Aggarwal, Shraddha Das, Prabhu, M. S. Narayana and Mukesh Rishi in significant roles. Prabhas also starred in films like K. Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Adavi Ramudu’, Prabhu Deva’s ‘Pournami’ alongside Trisha Krishnan, Charmy Kaur, Rahul Dev, and Sindhu Tolani, V.V.Vinayak’s ‘Yogi’ also starring Nayantara, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Pradeep Rawat and Sharada Urvashi and Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Ek Niranjan’ alongside Kangana Ranaut and Sonu Sood.

Prabhas’s fortcoming film ‘Manmadhan Ambu’directed by K. S. Ravikumar is scheduled to be released in the last quarter of this year. ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ ia a Tamil romantic comedy film also starring Kamal Haasan, R. Madhavan, Trisha Krishnan, Sangeetha and Manju Pillai. Prabhas is expected to appear in Dil Raju’s untitled film alongside Taapsee and Kajal Agarwal and Raghava Lawrence’s fortcoming project. Prabhas is also playing pivotal roles in K Raghavendra Rao’s ‘Brahmarishi Vishwamitra’ alongside Samantha, Meher Ramesh’s ‘Billa2’, Surender Reddy’s ‘Kick 2’ and ‘Partner’ alongside Gopichand.

Moreover Prabhas and Allu Arjun are being considered for playing the lead role in the Telugu version of Ravi Maria’s directorial ‘Milaga’. The film shall also be made in Hindi starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. It is also rumoured that Prabhas recommended the upcoming actress Tapsee to play the female lead in Dil Raju’s fortcoming film, thus replacing his ‘Darling’ co- star Kajal Agarwal.
