Prachi Desai, aged 21, is a well known Indian actress who gained immense popularity by playing the lead role in TV show ‘Kasamh Se’ and Abhishek Kapoor’s ‘Rock On’. Prachi Desai was born on 12th September, 1988 to Ameeta and Niranjan Desai in Gujarat. She attended the St. Joseph’s Convent Panchgani, Sinhagad College Pune and later enrolled as a student in Mithibai College Mumbai. Her father and uncle have worked in a number of Gujarati plays and it had a lot of influence on Prachi. She developed a keen interest for cinema and began with a modeling workshop.

While she was studying at the Sinhagad College in Pune, she sent her pictures to Balaji Telefilms and received a call for auditions. Prachi Desai auditioned for Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Kasamh Se’ aired on Zee TV and later appeared in the lead role of Bani Dixit who later became Mrs. Bani Walia. The seventeen year old Prachi Desai successfully portrayed the character of a small town determined girl and Every Indian household could associate with her life. Prachi became a popular name in the entertainment industry and bagged a number of awards including the Best Actress Award at the coveted KalaKaar Awards, Best Actress at the Sansui Television Awards and The Seventh Indian Telly Awards. Prachi Desai also received the Best Actress award at the Global Indian TV Honors in the year 2008.
 Prachi Desai was also seen in cameo appearances in Balaji Telefilms’ popular television shows ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki’. Prachi left her debut show Kasamh Se‘in April 2008 and was replaced by Gurdeep Kohli. However she appeared in the last episode aired on 12th March 2009 as former Bani.
Prachi Desai made her Bollywood debut in Abhishek Kapoor’s 2008 release film ‘Rock On!!’ based on the life of a Mumbai-based Grunge rock band, called "Magik". The film also starred Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny, Purab Kohli, Shahana Goswami and Koel Purie. The musical drama became a box office success and Prachi’s performance was loved by the audiences as well as critics. The film won two National Awards for the Best Feature Film in Hindi and Best Supporting Actor for Arjun Rampal. Moreover ‘Rock On!!’ also received seven Filmfare Awards, four IIFA awards and six Star Screen Awards.
After enjoying the mega success of ‘Rock On!!’, Prachi Desai was seen in Rumi Jaffrey’s ‘Life Partner’ opposite Tusshar Kapoor. The film also starred Govinda, Fardeen Khan and Genelia D'Souza. The film was declared a semi-hit and Prachi cemented her status in Bollywood. Prachi Desai is presently working on Milan Luthria’s highly awaited film ‘Once upon A time in Mumbai’. The film based on the growth of Mumbai underworld stars Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda, Prachi Desai and Kangana Ranaut.
Prachi Desai will soon be seen pairing opposite the well known actor Rajeed Khandelwal. ‘Aamir’ fame Rajeev Khandelwal and Prachi presently filming for Vikram Tuli’s ‘Main Joker’. The two brilliant actors have graduated from television and have made their debut with the television queen Ekta Kapoor. It is rumored that both of them have expressed their reservations about kissing on screen and have refused to lock lips for their forthcoming film ‘Main Joker’.
Prachi Desai also participated in the second season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ which is the desi version of BBC's ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ABC's ‘Dancing with the Star’s. After being eliminated in the sixth episode, she made a comeback as a wildcard entry which was supposedly a result of Ekta Kapoor’s intervention. Prachi was eventually declared the winner of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- Season 2’.
