Priyadarshini Rao a well-famed designer in the fashion world had graduated from the renowned SNDT University of Mumbai in the mid 90s and ever since took to fashion designing as her pensioned career.
Priyadarshini Rao took off to fashion designing for Women at Shoppers Stop as soon as she had graduated. She went on to launch her own label Ffolio in Bangalore which caught the attention of the fashion industry. Later took to retailing at Melange and Ensemble in Mumbai and New Delhi.
While specializing in only women’s wear, Priyadarshini Rao decided exploring her interests with Men’s wear during 1999. Her debut attempt was sold out which gave her the much needed encouragement and ever since she started coming up with different thrills for every successive season.
Priyadarshini Rao has also done a 6 months diploma on Jacket Making and Corsetry from the London College of Fashion Design in Islington in which she specialized in this segment of men’s wear.
Comfort is the keyword for this Desi girl with fabric, finish and fashion gelled into each other most ingeniously. Her cuts and symmetry settle into well defined outfits that make her a stand out designer of her times.
Priyadarshini Rao has always relied on her basic mantra- simplicity that lets her speak for her uniqueness. Most of her works are simple and she deliberately avoids heavy stitches and embroidery.
Many high end stores like Kimaya at Mumbai, Delhi, Dubai, Fuel at Mumbai, Cinnamon at Bangalore, XLNC at Hyderabad and Ensemble at Mumbai have been favorite places to find Priyadarshini Rao’s varied collections.

Priyadarshini Rao’s Spring-Summer Collection of every year wins laurels and she involves themes inspired by nature using shades like those of green foliage, dark woods and pale blue skies that takes us through a trip down the wilderness.
Silhouettes are also one of her treasured specialities. Empire tunics, Trapeze dresses and blousons are the specialities of her silhouette line. Several varieties of fabric like voiles, muls, organza’s, linens and light silks are used in a myriad of collections.
Most of Priyadarshini Rao’s collections are found in pale colours like crème, sky, beige that slowly moves into mid tones of jade, moss and mocha and finally culminating into deep moss, charcoal, petrol and dark coffee.
Priyadarshini Rao is that class of designer that sticks to her consistency and delivers the best with her signature styles of layers and flowing lines on wispy fabric that always makes the wearer look ever too feminine and aesthetic.
Priyadarshini Rao has also been toying with her creativity in introducing fusion of styles in her collections which showcases itself promisingly. The well cut kurta blends extremely well with the formal western pants while the spaghetti top or tank glides down coolly into the traditional frilled skirt to get the pampered look.
