Rahul Khanna made his debut in Deepa Mehta’s ‘1947 Earth’ and since then, he has appeared in many critically an commercially successful films. Known for his charismatic persona, Rahul Khanna has also featured in several TV commercials for reputed brands like Toyota, Lay's, Pepsi, DTC (Diamond Trading Company/ De Beers group), Trent (Westside), Tommy Hilfiger, Jaypee Group's Jaypee Greens and Audi.

Born on 20th June, 1972, Rahul Khanna is the son of veteran actor, film producer and politicianVinod Khanna and the younger brother of popular bollywood actor Akshaye Khanna. Rahul Khanna was brought up in Mumbai where he finished his preliminary education and later attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and the School of Visual Arts in New York.

Rahul’s brother Akshaye Khanna has appeared in commercially successful films like ‘Taal’ , ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ , ‘Humraaz’ , ‘Hungama’ and ‘Race’, among others. While Rahul Khanna was mainly starred in offbeat contemporary films like ‘Hollywood Bollywood’, ‘Dil Kabaddi’ and ‘Wake Up Sid’.

Rahul Khanna started his career as a VJ and worked for MTV Asia between 1994 to1998. Rahul Khanna made his acting debut in the 1998 release critically acclaimed film ‘1947: Earth’ directed by Deepa Mehta. Based on Bapsi Sidhwa’s novel ‘Cracking India’, ‘1947: Earth’ also starred established actors like Aamir Khan, Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi. The film became India’s official entry to the Oscars but could not make it to the top five. However Rahul Khanna earned positive reviews for his performance and received the coveted Filmfare Best Male Debut Award.

Rahul Khanna played the male lead in Deepa Mehta’s multiple Genie Award winning film ‘Hollywood Bollywood’ alongside Lisa Ray and Moushumi Chatterjee. The light hearted family comedy also featured Rahul’s brother Akshaye Khanna in a cameo dance appearance. Rahul Khanna played a significant role in Michael Hoffman’s ‘The Emperor's Club’ alongside the Academy Award winner actor Kevin Delaney Kline.

Rahul Khanna has also acted in mainstream bollywood films like Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Elaan’ alongside Arjun Rampal, John Abraham, Amisha Patel, Lara Dutta and Mithun Chakraborty, Anurag Singh’s ‘Raqeeb’ alongside Jimmy Shergill, Sharman Joshi and Tanushree Dutta and Imtiaz Ali’s blockbuster film ‘Love Aaj Kal’ alongside Rishi Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone.

Rahul Khanna also appeared in pivotal roles in critically appreciated films like Santosh Sivan’s ‘Tahaan’ also starring Purav Bhandare, Anupam Kher, Sarika, Rahul Bose and Victor Banerjee, Anil Sharma’s ‘Dil Kabbadi’ alongside Rahul Bose, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma and Soha Ali Khan and the most recent Ayan Mukherji’s ‘Wake up Sid’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma.

Rahul Khanna has also been active in the Television industry and has hosted several shows including ITV Asianet’s ‘Saturday Live’ and ‘Bombay Glitter’, Discovery Channel’s ‘Discovery Week’ etc. Rahul Khanna has also been a host at several events, mainly the high profile award functions including the IIFA, Miss India Pageant, Star Screen Awards, Stardust Awards, GQ Men of the year awards as well as other social events like Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief show at Mumbai Fashion Week.
