Rajesh Khanna, affectionately called Kaka is the first superstar of Indian film industry who enjoyed incredible fan following. Rajesh Khanna was a popular Bollywood actor during the seventies and eighties. Rajesh Khan joined the Congress party in early nineties and was elected as the Member of Parliament during 1991-1996.
Rajesh Khanna was born as Jatin Khanna on December 29, 1942 in Amritsar, Punjab. He was adopted by his parents’ relatives who were childless. His father was a jeweller and that’s how he became friends with Ravi Kapoor who later became popular as Jeetendra. Rajesh Khanna was romantically linked to Anju Mahendroo for a while and later married Bollywood diva Dimple Kapadia in 1973. Dimple Kapadia was just sixteen when the two got married. Rajesh Khanna appeared in significant character roles in films like ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’ starring Akshaye Khanna and Aishwarya Rai and ‘Kyaa Dil Ne Kahaa’ starring Esha Deol and Tusshar Kapoor.
Rajesh Khanna won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for ‘Anand’, ‘Sacha Jhutha’ and ‘Aavishkar’. He also received the BFJA Best actor Award for ‘Anand’, ‘Namak Haraam’, ‘Bawarchi’ and ‘Amrit’. Rajesh Khnna was honoured with the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke academy award along with the Filmfare award, IIFA award and International Pune Film festival award for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Rajesh Khanna has also starred in several Television serials including ‘Aapne Paraye’, ‘Ittefaq’, ‘Bhabhima’ and ‘Raghukul Reet Sada Chali Aayi’. He appeared as a guest in ‘Star se Superstar tak’ and ‘K for Kishore’.
