Ravi Teja ia an award winning tollywood actor who has starred in blockbuster films like ‘Idiot’, ‘Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru’, ‘Venky’, ‘Bhadra’, ‘Vikramarkudu’, ‘Dubai Seenu’, ‘Krishna’ and ‘Kick’. Ravi Teja was born as Bhupatiraju Ravishankar Raju on 26 January 1968 to Bhupatiraju Rajgopal Raju and Rajyalaxmi Bhupatiraju. Ravi Teja’s father, als known as Raghu has appeared in pivotal roles in several Telugu films, while his two younger brothers have recently ventured into cinema.
Ravi Teja attended the Siddhartha Degree College in Vijayawada where he enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts course but left it midway to pursue a career in acting. Ravi Teja tied the wedlock to Kalyani in the year 2002 and the couple is blessed with two lovely kids- a daughter named Mokshadha and a son named Manit.
Ravi Teja began his career as an assistant director in films and TV productions and later played minor roles in Telugu and Hindi films. His first film as the lead role was ‘Sindhuram’ directed by Krishna Vamsi, the film and Ravi Teja both went unnoticed. He consequently starred in ‘Nee Kosam’ that earned him a coveted Nandi Award for Special Jury. Ravi Teja next appeared in Mutyala Subbayya’s ‘Annayya’ alongside Chiranjeevi, Soundarya and Sarath Babu.
Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam’ released in 2001 is considered as the turning point in Ravi Teja’s career. The film also starring Tanu Roy, and Samrin was loved by the audiences as well as the critics. Since then Ravi Teja has worked in several blockbuster films alongside notable film stars. Ravi Teja and Puri Jagannadh again collaborated for the blockbuster Telugu film ‘Idio’ also starring Rakshita. ‘Idiot’ was the remake of Puri Jagannadh’s superhit Kannada film ‘Appu’.
Ravi’s career graph sky rocketed with the success of Vamsy’s multiple award winning ‘Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru’ and ‘Khadgam’ that won Ravi Teja a Nandi Award for Special Jury. Ravi Teja later starred in lead roles in blockbuster films like Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi’ alongside Asin, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha, Srinu Vaitla’s ‘Dubai Seenu’ co-starring Nayantara and Krishna Bhagavaan, Srinu Vaitla’s ‘Venky’ alongside Sneha and Ashutosh Rana.
Ravi Teja’s ‘Bhadra’ becme a huge success, in fact it was the only film that collected nearly 180 million in the second week of its release. ‘Bhadra’ was directed by Boyapati Srinu and starred Ravi Teja, Meera Jasmine, Arjan Bajwa, Prakash Raj, Pradeep Rawat and Linda Arsenio. Owing to its success, ‘Bhadra’ was later remade into Tamil as ‘Saravana’ starring Silambarasan and Jyothika.
Ravi Teja earned rave reviews for appearing in a double role in S.S. Rajamouli’s ‘Vikramarkudu’, also starring Ravi Teja, Anushka Shetty, Brahmanandam, Ajay and Prakash Raj. The film became a huge commercial success and had a hundred-day run in 54 centres. Ravi Teja played the male lead opposite famed actress Trisha Krishnan in VV Vinayak’s mega hit ‘Krishna’released on the auspicious occasion of Sankranthi festival.
Ravi Teja won the Nandi Award for the best actor for his exemplary performance in critically acclaimed film ‘Neninthe’ opposite debutant Siya. Directed by Puri Jagganadh, the film also won two other Nandi Awards for the Best Dialogue Writer and Best Fight Sequences. Ravi Teja was recently seen in Surender Reddy’s blockbuster film ‘Kick’ alongside Ileana D'Cruz, Shaam and Brahmanandam. Ravi Teja’s fortcoming films include the much awaited ‘Don Seenu’, ‘ Veera’, ‘Mirapakai’ and ‘Kathilantodu’.
