Rohit Roy is a famed Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films as well as television shows. Rohit Roy is known for his performance in TV shows like ‘Swabhimaan’, ‘Banegi Apni Baat’, ‘Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand’ etc and films like ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, ‘Delhi Heights’ and the most recent ‘Mittal vs Mittal’.

A Bengali by origin, Rohit Roy attended the St. Xavier's High School, Loyola Hall and graduated from St. Xavier's College, Ahmedabad. Rohit Roy is married to well known tele-actress Manasi Joshi who shot to fame by playing lead roles in shows like ‘Saaya’ and ‘Kkusum’. Manasi Joshi is the sister of Bollywood actor Sharman Joshi who was recently seen in the blockbuster film ‘3 Idiots’. Rohit’s elder brother Ronit Roy is known as the Big B of Indian television and currently appears in NDTV Imagine’s ‘Bandini’.

Rohit Roy is one of the most sought after stars in the Indian television industry owing to his magnetic persona and a huge fan following. Rohit Roy’s tryst with acting began in the year 1995 when he appeared in Mahesh Bhatt’s Magnum Opus ‘Swabhimaan’ alongside Kitu Gidwani, Manoj Bajpai, Ashutosh Rana, Sandhya Mridul and Abhimanyu Raj Singh. Rohit soon became a popular Tv personality and was seen in TV shows like ‘Baat Ban Jaye’, ‘Milan’, ‘Kkusum’, ‘Bhabhi’, ‘Sarrkar’, ‘Virasat’ among others. He appeared as a participant in celebrity reality dance shows such as ‘Nach Baliye’ on Star Plus and ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’ on 9X. Rohit Roy also hosted two seasons of Sony Entertainment television’s ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ and ‘Wild Ten’.

Rohit Roy made his Bollywood debut with the 1994 release ‘Jazbaat’ that bombed at the box office. His next few films like ‘Lalchee’, ‘Koi Kisi Se Kum Nahin’ and ‘Aankhon Mein Tum Ho’ also failed at the box office. However he won positive reviews for his performance in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Plan’ also starring Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Suri, Dino morea and Bikram Saluja.

Rohit Roy played supporting roles in several films including Samar Khan’s ‘Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye’ alongside Arshad Warsi, Mahima Chaudhary, Parvin Dabbas, Suparn verma’s ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ alongside Fardeen Khan, Koena Mitra, Feroz Khan and Kay Kay Menon, Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’ opposite Anita Hassandaniand ‘Delhi Heights’ alongside Jimmy Shergill, Neha Dhupia and Simone Singh.

Rohit Roy received accolades for his performance in commercially and critically successful film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ directed by Apoorv Lakhia. The film also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Vivek Oberoi, Suniel Shetty, Shabbir Ahluwalia, Tusshar Kapoor, Amrita Singhin pivotal roles and Abhishek Bachchan in a special appearance. Rohit Roy also did a cameo in Madhur Bhandarkar’s award winning film ‘Fashion’ and the lead role in Karan Razdan’s ‘Mittal vs Mittal’ opposite Rituparna Sengupta.

Rohit Roy ventured into film direction with ‘Rice Plate’ which was one of the ten stories featured in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Dus Kahaniyaan’. ‘Rice Plate’ starred Shabana Azmi and Naseeruddin Shah in lead roles. Rohit Roy is presently hosting Imagine Tv’s ‘Desi Girl’ that features celebrity divas like Kashmeera Shah, Sambhavana Seth, Ishita Arun, Monika Bedi, Aushima Saehney, Roshani Chopra, Rucha Gujarati and Anmol as contestants.

In his highly eventful career, Rohit Roy has received several awards, including the Best Actor Award for ‘Viraasat’, MTV award for Best Dressed Actor on TV and Society Magazine Young Achiever’s Award.
