Sameer Dattani is a famed Indian actor who appears in Bollywood and Kannada films. He recently plunged into Tamil films with Mithran Jawahar’s romantic comedy ‘Kutty’ alongside Dhanush and Shriya Saran. Born on January 27, 1982 in Mumbai, Sameer Dattani belongs to a Guajarati business family. Sameer attended the Greenlawns Scholl and graduated from H.R College where he won many national level roller skating competitions. Sameer has strong business acumen and runs a Chinese restaurant in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.

Sameer Dattani started his career with television commercials and music viseos, he shot to fame with the music video titled ‘Valentine’s Day’ alongside Raima Sen. He soon plunged into Kannada films with the screen name Dhyan. His first Kannada film ‘'Nanna Preethiya Hudugi’ opposite Deepali was a superhit followed by other successful films like ‘monalisa’ opposite Sadha, ‘Jootata’ opposite Richa Pallod, ‘Amrithadhare’ opposite Ramya, ‘Sajni’ opposite Sharmila Mandre, ‘Neene Neene’ opposite Aishwarya Nag and the most recent ‘Thunta Thunti’ opposite Lekha Washington.

Sameer Dattani’s first Bollywood film was Rajshri Films’ ‘Uff Kya Jadoo Mohabbat Hai’ opposite debutant Pooja Kanwal. Though the film failed to do well at the box office, Sameer’s performance won positive reviews and he was subsequently seen in pivotal roles in films like Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Corporate’ alongside Bipasha Basu, Kay Kay Menon and Rajat Kapoor, ‘Pyaar Mein Twist’ alongside Rishi Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Soha Ali Khan and ‘Life Mein Kabhie Kabhie’ alongside Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Nauheed Cyrusi and Koel Purie.

Sameer Dattani won rave reviews for his performance in Mani Shankar’s thriller film ‘Mukhbiir’. Set in the backdrop of underworld, ‘Mukhbiir’ revolved around the life of an Indian spy played by Sameer Dattani. The film also starred Om Puri, Suniel Shetty, Sushant Singh, Rahul Dev, Jackie Shroff and Raima Sen. In order to prepare for the film Sameer spent a night in jail, attended several training workshops and also visited the underworld. Sudhish Rambottla, the producer of ‘Mukhbiir’ was so impressed by Sameer and Mani Shankar that he announced a total refund to any audience who did not like the film.

Sameer’s efforts in ‘Mukbiir’ were appreciated and he caught the attention of ace filmmaker Shyam Benegal. Consequently Sameer Dattani was seen in a significant role in Shyam Benegal’s ‘Well Done Abba’, a political satire Hindi film. The film also starred Boman Irani and Minisha Lamba in pivotal roles. ‘Well Done Abba’ was a critical success and consolidated Sameer’s status as an actor.

SAmeer Dattani will soon be seen in Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Ronnie Screwvala's UTV Motion Pictures’ ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ alongside Imran Khan, Aamir Khan’s nephew and Sonam Kapoor, Anil Kapoor’s daughter. The film is directed by well known designer Manish Malhotra’s nephew Punit Malhotra. Sameer Dattani is playing the male lead in a forthcoming horror film titled ‘Mallika’ opposite Sheena Nayar. The film is produced by Percept Picture Company and directed by Wilson Louis. It is reported that the production house has acquired the rights of popular song ‘Woh bhooli dastaan’ featured in the film ‘Sanjog’.

Sameer Dattani is also planning to venture into Telugu films and feature in more Tamil films. Sameer recently changed the spelling of his name to ‘Sammir’ owing to numerological reasons and it seems that luck is already shining on him with two much awaited projects in his kitty.
