Sanjay Kapoor is an Indian actor who made his debut in romantic thriller ‘Prem’ and later appeared in successful films like ‘Raja’, ‘Sirf Tum’, ‘Qayamat: City Under Threat’, ‘Loc Kargill’, ‘Luck by Chance’ and the most recent ‘Prince’. Sanjay Kapoor, born on 17 November 1962 in Mumbai hails from a filmy background.

Sanjay Kapoor’s father Surinder Kapoor was the secretary of notable actor Shammi Kapoor, but later he became a successful film producer. Sanjay’s brother Boney Kapoor is also a film producer and sister-in-law Sridevi is a distinguished actress and dancer. His elder brother Anil Kapoor is a well known award winning actor and niece Sonam Kapoor has recently ventured into Bollywood. Sanjay has a sister named Reena who is married to Sandeep Marwah, the owner of Marwah Studios.
Sanjay Kapoor is married to former model and Australian import Jewellery Designer Mahhep Sandhu and the couple is blessed with two children, daughter Shania and son Jahann. Maheep Sandhu is also a former beauty queen and received several offers from Indian filmmakers. Sanjay Kapoor’s close friends in the industry include superstar Shahrukh Khan and ace filmmaker Karan Johar , it is because of this friendship that Sanjay agreed to do a cameo in ‘Kal Ho Na Ho.’
Sanjay Kapoor made his acting debut in ‘Prem’ opposite acclaimed actress Tabu. The film was based on a love story in the backdrop of reincarnation and revenge. The film was an average success and Sanjay Kapoor won positive reviews for his performance. His first commercial success was Indra Kumar’s ‘Raja’ alongside Madhuri Dixit, Paresh Rawal, Mukesh Khanna and Dalip Tahil. Sanjay Kapoor later appeared in supporting roles in films like Reema Rakesh Nath’s ‘Mohabbat’ alongside Madhuri Dixit and Akshaue Khanna, Sohail Khan’s ‘Auzaar’ alongside Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty, ‘Chhupa Rustam: A Musical Thriller’ alongside Mamta Kulkarni, Tinnu Anand, Raj Babbar, and Manisha Koirala, Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Shakti: The Power’ alongside Karisma Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Shahrukh Khan and Sushen Bhatnagar’s ‘Soch’ alongside Raveena Tandon, Arbaaz Khan, Danny Denzongpa and Aditi Govitrikar. Sanjay Kapoor played the male lead opposite Shilpa Shetty in Rajeev Rawail’s ‘Zameer: The Awakening of a Soul’ and opposite Priya Gill in Ahathian’s ‘Sirf Tum’ also starring Salman Khan, Sushmita Sen and Jackie Shroff. ‘Sirf Tum’ was the remake of National award winning Tamil film ‘Kadhal Kottai’ starring Ajith Kumar and Devayani. Sanjay Kapoor was seen in a negative role in Vinay Shukla’s ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’, also starring Jaya Bachchan, Aftab Shivdasani and Esha Deol. ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche’ was inspired from Julia Roberts-Kevin Anderson starrer ‘Sleeping with the Enemy’. Sanjay Kapoor won rave reviews for his villainous performance in Harry Baweja’s multistarrer action thriller ‘Qayamat: City Under Threat’. Inspired from the 1996 Hollywood movie ‘The Rock’, ‘Qayamat: City Under Threat’ also starred Ajay Devgan, Sunil Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Chunky Pandey, Ayub Khan, Isha Koppikar, Riya Sen, Neha Dhupia and Aashish Chaudhary. Sanjay later appeared in pivotal roles in J.P. Dutta’s Bollywood war film ‘LOC Kargil’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan, Sunil Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, among others and Mehul Kumar’s ‘Jaago’ opposite Raveena Tandon. Sanjay Kapoor recently starred in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Luvk by Chance’ alongside Farhan Akhtar, Konkona Sen Sharma, Rishi Kapoor, Juhi Chawla, Dimple Kapadia and Isha Sarvani and Kookie V Gulati’s ‘Prince’ also starring Vivek Oberoi, Aruna Shields, Nandana Sen and Neeru Bajwa.
