Sanjay Suri is a versatile Indian actor known to have appeared in critically acclaimed films like ‘Pinjar’, ‘My Brother Nikhil’ and ‘Firaaq’ as well as commercially successful films like ‘Jhankaar Beats’ and ‘Bas Ek Pal’. Though Sanjay has worked in films of all genres, he is most recognized for his performance in offbeat and unconventional cinema.

Sanjay Suri, born on April 6th 1971 in Srinagar has two elder siblings. After spending nineteen years in Srinagar, Sanjay moved to New Delhi to follow his dreams and passion for theatre. Sanjay began his career as a model and appeared in many television commercials for Gillette, Nilkamal Furniture, Times of India, and Philishave, Nescafe and more.

Sanjay Suri made his bollywood debut in the year 1999 with a pivotal role in ‘Pyar Mein Kabhie Kabhie’. ‘Pyar Mein Kabhie Kabhie’ was the debut film of most members of the crew including the director Raj Kaushal, lead actors Dino Morea and Rinke Khanna and one of the leading playback singers of India, Shaan. Though the film could not do very well at the box office, Sanjay’s performance was well received.

Sanjay next went on to appear in supporting roles in films like A Muthu’s ‘Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Kirti Reddy, Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Filhaal’ alongside Sushmita Sen, Tabu and Palash Sen, ‘Chalo Ishq Ladaye’ alongside Govinda and Rani Mukherji, ‘Dil Vil Pyar Vyar’ alongside Jimmy Shergill, Madhavan, Sonali Kulkarni and Namrata Shirodkar, ‘Plan’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Priyanka chopra, Dino Morea, Bikram Saluja, ‘Shaadi Ka Laddoo’ alongside Divya Dutta, mandira Bedi and Aashish Chaudhary and ‘Speed’ alongside Zayed Khan, Urmila Matondkar, Aashish Chaudhary and Aftab Shivdasani.

Sanjay Suri won accolades for his performance in Kalpana Lazmi’s ‘Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence’. Based on the social subject of marital violence, the film was distributed by the Government of India. Sanjay Suri continued the stride of success with Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Jhankaar Beats’ also starring Rahul Bose, Juhi Chawla, Shayan Munshi, Rinke Khanna and Riya Sen. ‘Jhankaar Beats’ was a musical drama that became a huge commercial as well as critical success.

Sanjay Suri next appeared in a supporting role in Chandra Prakash Dwivedi’s award winning period drama ‘Pinjar’. Set in the backdrop of 1947 India-Pakistan partition, ‘Pinjar’ starred Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpai, Lilette Dubey and Isha Koppikar in significant roles. Sanjay was also seen in the critically acclaimed film ‘Dhoop’ alongside Gul Panag , Om Puri and Revathi.

Sanjay Suri won immense appreciation for playing the protagonist in Onir’s HIV/AIDS based film ‘My Brother Nikhil’ and the most recent terrorism based film ‘Sikandar’. Sanjay Suri was a vital part of the ensemble cast featured in Nandia Das’s ‘Firaaq’. Based on the aftermath of 2002 Gujarat violence, ‘Firaaq’ won several awards at international film festivals and Indian award ceremonies. It was honoured with three awards at the Asian Festival of First Films a Special Prize at the International Thessaloniki Film Festival, and another award at the Kara Film Festival. ‘Firaaq’ also received The Maverick Spirit Award, two national Film Awards, and five Filmfare Awards, among others.

Sanjay Suri is currently working on Onir’s ‘I Am’ alongside Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose, Purab Kohli and Arjun Mathur. The film is reported to be financed with several donations received from all over the world, particularly on social networking websites such as Facebook.
