One of the most successful movie stars in the world, Shahrukh Khan or SRK has been named as the “50 Most Powerful People” of 2008 by Newsweek. Born on 2nd November to Pathan parents in New Delhi, Shahrukh Khan is a renowned actor, film producer and Television host. Shahrukh Khan studied at St. Columbia's School, Hansraj College and Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi. With a Bachelors degree in Economics and a Masters in Mass Communications, Shahrukh Khan finally chose to join the Indian film industry. Shahrukh Khan joined Barry John’s ‘Theater Action Group’ to enhance his acting skills. Shahrukh Khan appeared in popular TV series’Fauji’ and Aziz Mirza’s famous television serial ‘Circus’ before making his film debut.
Shahrukh Khan married Gauri Chibber in 1991 and is blessed with two kids, son Aryan and daughter suhana. Shahrukh Khan made his bollywood debut with 1992 release ‘Deewana’ that became a commercial success and also earned him the Filmfare award for Best Male Debut. In 1993, Shahrukh Khan experimented with villainous roles in thriller movies like ’Darr’, ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Anjaam’. After his association with the Yashraj Camp in ‘Darr’, Shahrukh Khan starred in ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ directed by Aditya Chopra. ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ is one of the biggest blockbuster movies in India with a gross earning over 12 billion rupees. His commercial success continued with ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ and ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Mani Ratnam’s ‘Dil Se’ was appreciated by critics and did quite well in overseas market.
 Shahrukh Khan featured with Amitabh Bachchan in 2000 mega hit ‘Mohabbatein’ directed by Aditya Chopra. Shahrukh Khan’s splendid performances in Karan Johar’s family drama’Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gam’ and Santosh Sivan’s history epic ‘Asoka’ consolidated his position in the Indian film industry. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Devdas’ and Ashutosh Govariker’s ‘Swades’ are considered as the most notable performances of his career. Shahrukh Khan’s consequent hits included ‘Chalte Chalte’, ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’, ‘Veer Zaara’, ‘Main Hoon Naa’, ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’, ‘Don’, ‘Chak De India’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Rab Ne Bna Di Jodi’. His latest release ’My name is Khan’ is co produced by him and also features Kajol. Shot in Los Angeles, ’My name is Khan’ is expected to be one of the highest earners of 2010. Besides being a successful actor, Shahrukh Khan owns two production companies- ‘Dreamz Unlimited’ and’Red Chillies entertainment Ltd’. He has produced superhit films like’Chalte Chalte’, ‘Main hoon Na’, ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘My Name is Khan’ etc. Red Chillies entertainment Ltd also owns the cricket team ’Kolkatta Knight Riders’ playing in IPL cricket championship. Shahrukh Khan has successfully hosted ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ and ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?’. Shahrukh Khan’s forthcoming movies include ’Koochie Koochie Hota Hain’, ‘Ra.1’, ‘Happy New Year’ and’Don-2’.
Shahrukh Khan has been conferred upon a number of honors including the Padma Shri, by the Government of India , a wax statue at the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, London, a statue at the Musée Grévin in Paris, and the ‘Order of the Arts and Literature’ award by the government of France.
