Shweta Menon is a famed Indian actress known for her sizzling item dance numbers and riveting performances in films in Malayalam, Hindi and Tamil languages. Shweta is also a well known TV personality and a former beauty queen. Shweta Menon has recently been honored with the coveted Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actress for the 2009 superhit Malayalam film ‘Paleri Manikyam’.

Born on 23rd April in Chandigarh, Shweta is a native of Kozhikode in Kerala. Her father was an Indian Air Force officer while her mother was a housewife. She attended the Kendriya Vidyalaya in Kozhikode, Kerala. Shweta Menon participated in the mIss India beauty contest in the year 19994. She became the second runner up and was named Miss India- Asia Pacific 1994. Sushmita Sen won the title of Miss India Universe while Aishwarya Rai was crowned as Miss India World. Shweta represented India at the Miss Asia Pacific in Manila Cebu Island, Philippines and was declared the first runner up. Shweta also won the mega model title at the Gladrags Megamodel and Manhunt contest organized by Maureen Wadia.
 Shweta Menon began her acting career in the year 1991 with the Malayalam film ‘Anaswaram’ opposite Mammotty. In the next two years, she appeared in Malayalam films like ‘Welcome to Kodaikanal’, ‘Koushalam’, ‘Nakshthrakoodaram’ and ‘My dear Muthachan’. After that she took a long break of nine years before returning to Malayalam cinema in the year 2001. Meanwhile she participated in many beauty contests and also ventured into Hindi films.
Her first Hindi film ‘Prithvi’ alongside Sunil Shetty was released in 1997. She won positive reviews for her dance sequence alongside Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgan in the superhit romantic comedy ‘Ishq’. Shweta played different kind of roles, mostly alongside an ensemble cast in Bollywood films like ‘Bandhan’ opposite Jackie Shroff, ‘Shikari’ alongside Govinda and Karishma Kapoor, ‘Asoka’ alongside Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor, ‘Haan Maine Bhi Pyaar Kiya’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Karishma Kapoor, ‘Maqbool’ alongside Irrfan Khan and Tabu, ’88 Antop Hill’ alongside Rahul Dev and Atul Kulkarni, ‘Run’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Bhumika Chawla, ‘Corporate’ alongside Bipasha Basu and Kay Kay Menon, ‘Sandwich’ alongside Govinda, Raveena Tandon and Mahima cHaudhary and the more recent ‘Kisse Pyaar Karoon’.
Shweta Menon also appeared in Tamil films likePriyadarshan’s ‘Snegithiye/Raakkilipaattu’ alongside Jyothika Saravanan, Sharbani Mukherjee, Tabu and Lakshmi and the 2009 release ‘Naan Avanillai 2’. ‘Naan Avanillai 2’ directed by Selva is the sequel to ‘Naan Avanillai. Jeevan’ and stars Jeevan, Sangeetha, Shweta Menon in lead roles.
Shweta Menon made a comeback in the Malayalam film industry and appeared in many Malayalam films including ‘Kakkakuyil’, ‘Keerthichakra’ ‘Paradesi’ , ‘Rock n' Roll’, ‘Aakasha Gopuram’ alongside Mohanlal and the latest ‘Paleri Manikyam : Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha’ and ‘Kerala Cafe’ alongside Mammootty.
Shweta Menon won huge critical acclaim for her 2009 superhit Malayalam film ‘Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathira Kolapathakathinte Katha’. She received several award for her performance in this film including Kairali Best supporting actress award at by the World Malayali Association, Best Actress Award at the Kerala State film Awards, Vanitha-Nippon Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actress, Kerala Film Critics Award for Second Best Actress, Ujala-Asianet Film Awards for Best Character Actress and Amrita TV - Mathrubhumi Special Jury Award.
Shweta Menon has also hosted many TV shows including ‘Star Wars’ on Kairali TV, ‘Razzmatazz’ on Zee TV, ‘Honeymoon Travels’ on Surya TV and participated in the dance show ‘Dancing Queen’. Shweta Menon also received the Asian Television award for Best TV Anchor in the year 2009.
