Sohail Khan is a well known director turned producer turned actor. Sohail is better known as superstar Salman Khan’s brother and ace screenwriter Salim’s son. Sohail khan was born on 20 December 1970 to Salim Khan and Salma Khan in Mumbai.
Sohail Khan’s father Salim is a reputed screen writer while Sohail’s brothers Salman and Arbaaz are popular bollywood actors. The dancing diva of yesteryears Helen is Sohail Khan’s step mother. Sohail Khan is married to designer Seema Sachdev and the coule is blessed with a son named Nirvaan. Sohail’s brother Salman is dating the bollywood queen Katrina Kaiif while Arbaaz is married to sensuous Malaika Arora Khan.
Sohail Khan started his career as a director with ‘Auzaar’ starring his brother Salman Khan, Sanjay Kapoor and Shilpa Shetty. Sohail Khan later directed films like ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ starring his both brothers Salman and Arbaaz, Dharmendra and Kajol, ‘Hello Brother’ starring Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Rani Mukherji and his debut film as an actor ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’ opposite Sameera Reddy.
Sohail worked as a screenwriter for ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’, ‘Hello Brother’, ‘Fight Club - Members Only’ and the most recent ‘Kissan’. Till date Sohail Khan has produced seven films, namely ‘I - Proud to Be an Indian’, ‘Lucky: No Time for Love ’, ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’, ‘Fight Club - Members Only’, ‘Partner’, ‘Kissan’ and ‘Main Aur Mrs Khanna’.
Sohail Khan plunged into acting in the year 2002 with ‘Maine Dil Tujhko Diya’ opposite debutant Sameera Reddy. Sohail’s performance was well received and he next appeared alongside established actors like Sunny Deol and suniel Shetty and newcomers John Abraham and Nauheed Cyrusi in Ahmed Khan’s ‘Lakeer: The Forbidden Lines’.
Sohail Khan appeared in supporting roles in films like ‘Darna Mana Hai’ opposite Antara Mali, ‘Fight club- members only’ alongside Suniel Shetty, Zayed Khan, Dino mOrea, Ritesh Deshmukh and Aashish Chaudhary, ‘Salaam-E-Ishq: A Tribute To Love’ opposite Isha Koppikar, ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra, ‘Heroes’ alongside Vathsal Seth, Priety Zinta and Sunny Deol, ‘Hello’ alongside Sharman Joshi, Gul Panag, Amrita Arora, Isha Koppikar and Arbaaz Khan and ‘Do Knot Disturb’ alongside Govinda, Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh.
Sohail Khan won acclaim for his performance in Puneet Sira’s ‘I: Proud To Be An Indian’. The film based on the difficulties faced by an NRI family, received rave reviews and fared well at the box office. Sohail Khan has till date appeared in many successful films like paranormal thriller ‘Krishna Cottage’ opposite Isha Kopikar and Anita Hassanandani, romantic comedy ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ alongside Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sushmita Sen, Arshad Warsi and Isha Koppikar, romantic action drama ‘Aryan’ opposite Sneha Ullal and ‘Kissan’ alongside Jackie Shroff, Arbaaz Khan, Dia Mirza and Nauheed Cyrusi.
Sohail Khan was recently seen in Salman Khan’s dream project ‘Veer’ that failed at the box office. However Sohail Khan was appreciated for his performance and the chemistry between the star brothers Sohail and Salman. Sohail Khan is an ardent supporter of Salman’s charity foundation ‘Being Human’ and was present at the T20 cricket match between India and Pakistan organized by the foundation at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
