Sonu Sood
Sonu Sood is a well known Indian actor who appears in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Punjabi films. Sonu Sood has also starred in Param Gill’s English film ‘Rockin Meera’ alongside well known rapper TQ, Nauheed Cyrusi and Scary Movie 4 fame Debra Wilson. Sonu Sood won immense acclaim for playing the negative lead in Telugu blockbuster ‘Arundhati’. Sonu Sood, born on 22 May 1973 in Punjabi is a vegan and was nominated as PETA Asia’s Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrities for 2010.

Sonu Sood began his career as a model and later plunged into films, starting with the Telugu film ‘Hands Up’ wherein he played the villain. Sonu was next seen as an antagonist in Ravichandran’s 2001 release Tamil film ‘Majunu’ alongside Prashanth, Rinke Khanna, Raghuvaran, Nassar, Rati Agnihotri and Vivek. Sonu Sood won accolades for his performance in the lead role in Punjabi film ‘Shaahed-E-Azam’.
After appearing in a couple of unnoticed Hindi films like ‘Zindagi Khoobsurat Hai’, ‘Kahan Ho Tum’ and ‘Mission Mumbai’, Sonu Sood gave an implausible performance as the negative lead in ‘Yuva’. Directed by ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam, ‘Yuva’ starred Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan, Rani Mukherji, Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi and Esha Deol in pivotal roles. ‘Yuva’ was the remake of Mani Ratnam’s superhit Tamil film ‘Ayutha Ezhuthu’ starring Surya, Madhavan, Siddharth, Meera Jasmine, Trisha and Esha Deol.

Sonu Sood worked alongside established actors like Rajinikanth, Prabhu Ganesan, Jyothika Saravanan and Nayantara in Tamil paranormal thriller ‘Chandramukhi’ which was later remade into Hindi as ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Amisha Patel and Shiney Ahuja. Sonu Sood also played a pivotal role in Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Super’ alongside superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna, Ayesha Takia, and Anushka Shetty, Trivikram Srinivas’s ‘Athadu’ alongside Mahesh Babu, Trisha Krishnan and Prakash Raj and Aditya Datt’s ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ alongside Emraan Hashmi and Tanushree Dutta. Sonu Sood also starred in successful Bollywwod films, including Ashutosh Gowariker’s ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ alongside Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Annes Bazmee’s ‘Singh is Kinng’ alongside Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Neha Dhupia and Kaushik Ghatak’s ‘Ek Vivaah...Aisa Bhi’ opposite Isha Koppikar. Sonu Sood received his first ever Filmfare Nomination for the Best Supporting Actor for ‘Jodhaa Akbar’. Sonu Sood’s breakthrough performance was seen in the Telugu blockbuster ‘Arundhati’ directed by Kodi Ramakrishna. ‘Arundhati’, a Telugu fantasy drama starred Anushka Shetty as the protagonist while Sonu Sood played the antagonist. The film became a huge commercial and critical success and bagged ten Nandi Awards. Sonu Sood received the coveted Nandi Award for Best Villain. Sonu Sood was next seen in a few Telugu films like prabhas- kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Ek Niranjan’, Jagapathi Babu- Meera Jasmine starrer ‘Bangaru Babu’ and Ravi Teja- Nayantara starrer ‘Bangaru Babu’. Sonu Sood also acted in a multilingual Emirati film titled ‘City of Life’. ‘City of Life’ is set in Dubai and revolves around three characters belonging to different cultures. The lead roles are played by Alexandra Maria Lara, Sonu Sood, Saoud Al Kaabi, The Narcicyst, Jason Flemyng and Natalie Dormer. Sonu Sood is expected to be seen in forthcoming Bollywood films like ‘Divorce’, ‘Kuch Din Kuch Pal’ and ‘Dabangg’.
