Tamannaah Bhatia is a sensational Indian actress who is a prominent star in Tamil and Telugu films. Though she started her career in bollywood, she is much popular in the south for the glamour quotient she adds to all her films. Tamannaah Bhatia was born on 21 December 1989 to Santosh Bhatia and Rajni Bhatia in Mumbai. A sindhi by birth, Tamannaah attended the Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School in Juhu.

Tamannaah Bhatia made her cinematic debut in Shabah Shamsi’s Hindi film ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’. However the film was a low budget venture and starred not so popular actors and thus bombed at the box office. Tamannaah’s acting potential was noticed by the south Indian filmmakers and she turned to Telugu films to pursue her acting dream. Her first Telugu film was Dasaradh’s 2005 release ‘Sri’ alongside Manoj Kumar and Mohan Babu.
In the consequent year she made her debut in Tamil films with Jyothi Krishna’s ‘Kedi’ alongside Ravi Krishna and Ileana D’Cruz. Tamannaah played the negative lead in the film and was appreciated for her performance. ‘Kedi’ was later dubbed into Telugu as ‘Jadoo’.
Tamannaah was next seen in Sakthi Chidambaram’s Kollywood film ‘Vyapari’ alongside SJ Suryah, and Vadivelu. ‘Vyapari’ was based on the 1996 Hollywood comedy film ‘Multiplicity’ starring Michael Keaton and Andie MacDowell in lead roles. The biggest success of Tamannaah was the 2007 Telugu film ‘Happy Days’ directed by Sekhar Kammula. ‘Happy Days’ was based on the life of college students and the interesting web of love, friendship, and responsibility that follows. ‘Happy Days’ starred Varun Sandesh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Nikhil Siddharth, Raahul, Vamsee Krishna, Gayatri Rao, Monali Chowdhary, Sonia Deepti and Kamalinee Mukherjee. ‘Happy Days’ won eight CineMAA Awards including Best Film and Best Director.
Tamannaah Bhatia next appeared in the Tamil superhit ‘Kalloori’ directed by Balaji Shakthivel and starring Tamannaah Bhatia, Akil and Hemalatha in lead roles. This film was also based on the college life and won over the young audiences. Tamannaah was nominated at the Filmfare Award South for Best Actress for this film. She made special appearances in Ram- Genelia starrer Telugu film ‘Ready’ and Ravi Krishna starrer ‘Netru Indru Naalai’.
Tamannaah was seen in Tamil films like suraj’s ‘Padikathavan’ alongside Dhanush, Sayaji Shinde, Pratap Pothan, Suman and Atul Kulkarni, KV Anand’s action thriller ‘Ayan’ alongside Surya, Prabhu and Karunas and A.R. Gandhi Krishna’s ‘Ananda Tandavam’ alongside Siddharth Venugopal. She also acted in the Telugu film ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’ directed by Kishore Pardasani. ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’ starred Siddharth Narayan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishna, Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav in pivotal roles.
Tamannaah won immense critical acclaim for her pioneering performance in the 2009 release Tamil romantic comedy ‘Kanden Kadhalai’ opposite Bharath. Directed by R. Kannan, ‘Kanden Kadhalai’ was the remake of Bollywood blockbuster ‘Jab We Met’. ‘Jab WE Met’ is Imtiaz Ali’s award winning 2007 film starring Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles.
Tamannaah’s recent Tamil films- N. Linguswamy’s ‘Paiyaa’ opposite Karthik Sivakumar and S. P. Rajkumar’s ‘Sura’ opposite Joseph Vijay have turned out to be super successful and have consolidated her status in the film industry.
