The Creation of Excellent Tassels
Tassels are defined as a finishing property mostly in fabric decoration. It is made in different variations depending on the culture of the countries around the world, thus considering it as a universal ornament. It is derived from the Latin word "tassau" which means "to clasp" like for the neck part of a garment. In Western cultures, Tassels are considered very fun and fantastic additions to systematic arrangement of knitting projects. They look extraordinarily beautiful on belts, scarves, hats, home decor items and anything that can be done by one's initiative. Tassel can also be beneficial in removing undesirable curls from the curls of stockinet stitches. Tassels can be both created with few or many strands of yarn as you can manage for as long it suits the edges of your knitting. They can be at any desired length but having them in 6 inches and 1 foot is the most preferable one. So it is best to start on the strands of the yarns with 2ft.long or even with just a single ft., so you can get the desired length even if it is doubled. Odd numbers like numbers three, five or seven are most convenient to use in tassels in projects.
The making or creation of tassels follows several steps, before anything else prepare all the desired materials and items needed in the project. Figure the accurate length of the yarn needed, or calculate how many strands of it you want for each and the volume of the tassels needed. Remember when using the yarn; make sure the adequacy of the tassel is equally good for its length before the knitting of the project. The first step is the preparation of the important materials necessary for the project. This includes the tape measure, ruler, at least a piece of cardboard or any other applicable measuring device that may be used to cut tassel pieces to a neatly uniform in length. Then carefully divide the strands into its corresponding piles, more specifically one for the tassels needed. Straighten carefully each stack to promote order in thread lines and then gently fold the stack in its half form. Next is the appropriate use of the crochet hook in piercing the knitting on the direction of the tassels. Always be cautious of your work, make sure you're doing it in the stitches and not in the yarn used and then always hook the loop that is created. This is done by simply folding the yarn by half with the use of crochet hook and properly slides it towards the knitted article. Get the made loop off from the hook and let it slip through the loop until it bring on the end of the knitting. Finally, pull tight to create the desired tassel. Repeat the same procedure until the project is completely finished.
