Tulip Joshi made her bollywood debut in ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ alongside Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill and Bipasha Basu. ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ was directed by ‘Dhoom’ fame Sanjay Gadhavi and produced by veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra. The film was a success and earned positive reviews, however Tulip was criticized for her acting skills and her diction.

Tulip Joshi decided to overcome the lack of her knowledge of Hindi language and thus joined Feroze Khan’s studio. Tulip Joshi also changed her name to Sanjana Sahni as she was advised by many filmmakers that her unconventional name may not be accepted by the Indian audiences. In a couple of her films, she is credited as Sanjana while as Tulip in others.

Tulip Joshi earned rave reviews for her performances in sensitive cinema films like Manish JHa’s ‘Matrubhoomi: a Nation without Women’ depicting the ill effects of female foeticide and Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Dhokha’ opposite Muzammil Ibrahim wherein she played a suicide bomber. She was also seen in romantic comedy ‘Dil Maange More’ alongside Shahid Kapoor, Ayesha Takia and Soha Ali Khan.
