Uday Chopra
Uday Chopra is a popular Indian actor who made his debut in the multistarrer romantic drama ‘Mohabbatein’. Uday is better known as Yash Chopra’s son and Aditya Chopra’s younger brother. Born on 5th January 1973 to Yash Chopra and Pamela Chopra in Delhi, Uday hails from the eminent Chopra clan known for making the most successful bollywood films including ‘Deewar’, ‘Lamhe’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Mohabbatein’, ‘Veer Zaara’, ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Dhoom’, ‘New York’, ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’, among others.

Uday Chopra attended the Bombay Scottish School, Mumbai and later studied at Sydenham College. It was during college that Uday started assisting his father Yash Chopra during the filming of ‘Lamhe’ starring Sridevi and Anil Kapoor. He later worked as an assistant director his home production films like ‘Darr’ starring Sunny Deol, Shshrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla, ‘Parampara’ starring Sunil Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol and ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ starring Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor. Uday Chopra also produced Akshay Kumar- Kajol- Saif Ali Khan starrer 1994 superhit ‘Yeh Dillagi’.

Uday Chopra was launched as an actor by his father Yash Chopra in ‘Mohabbatein’ alongside established actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film around three teen couples played by Uday Chopra- Shamita Shetty, Jimmy Shergill- Preeti Jhangiani and Jugal Hansraj- Kim Sharma. The film became a huge success at the box office and Uday Chopra received the Filmfare best Male Debut Actor nomination.
Despite a dream launch in bollywood, Uday Chopra could not earn the expected success as an actor. Uday Chopra has mostly appeared in his home production films like ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ alongside Jimmy Shergill, Bipasha Basu and Tulip Joshi, ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’ alongside Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherji and Kareena Kapoor, ‘Neal 'n' Nikki’ opposite Tanisha, among others. Uday Chopra won accolades for his performance in Sanjay Gadhvi’s action thriller ‘Dhoom’ alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Esha Deol, John Abraham and Rimi Sen. It was Uday Chopra’s delightful performance and impeccable comic timing that added humor to this action packed film. Uday was also seen in the sequel of ‘Dhoom’ titled ‘Dhoom 2’. ‘Dhoom 2’ also starred Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Bipasha Basu. Uday Chopra also won acclaim for his Padam Kumar’s ‘Supari’ set in the backdrop of Mumbai underworld and Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Charas’ based on drug cultivation. Uday Chopra appeared in different and challenging roles in both the films and was appreciated by the critics. In the meanwhile he also assisted Kunal Kohli in Saif Ali Khan- Rani Mukherji starrer ‘Hum Tum’. Produced by Yash Chopra, ‘Hum Tum’ became a box office success. Uday Chopra was seen in ‘Pyaar Impossible!’ alongside Priyanka Chopra and Dino Morea. ‘Pyaar Impossible!’ was written and produced by Uday himself and directed by one of his close friends Jugal Hansraj. Uday Chopra is currently working on ‘Koochie Koochie Hota Hai’, supposedly the animated version of Karan Johar’s blockbuster film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.
