Model turned actress Udita Goswami appears in bollywood Hindi films and is known for her sensuous on screen presence. Born on 2nd September, 1984 in Dehradun, Udita attended the DAV Public School in Dehradun. Both her parents are natives of the north eastern state of Assam. The love for showbiz and glamour inspired Udita to relocate to Mumbai despite a lot of resentment from her family.

Udita’s pictures were first spotted by MTV and she eventually became the winner of ‘MTV model Mission 2’ and that’s how she got her first commercial assignment. Udita’s first fashion feature was with a fashion photographer named Anand Seth. Udita soon became a popular face in the modeling world and ended up posing on the cover pages of popular magazines like Elle, Femina, Cosmopolitan, Bride n Home, Zinc, etc. Udita Goswami walked the ramp for the leading Indian fashion designers including Suneet Verma, Tarun Tahilyani, Nikki Mahajan and Ranna Gill.
Udita Goswami also appeared in a number of TV commercials and print advertisements for brands like Pepsi, Sun.com, Nokia, Star Movies, Platinum, Levis, Wills Sports, Lee Cooper, Rags, Elle Sports, Rupam, Park Hotel, Taj Hotel, Titan Watches, Brylcreem, etc. Besides being named the winner of ‘MTV model Mission 2’, Udita also bagged the Model of the Universe Asia 2001 award.
A complete food buff, Udita is extremely fond of Goan cuisine. Udita’s favourite actors include the legendary Marilyn Monroe, Gary Cooper, Shashi Kapoor and Rekha. Udita Goswami loves animals and is a devoted member of Save Our Stray and PETA (India).
Udita always cherished the limelight and decided to venture into acting when approached by Pooja Bhatt for the leading role in ‘Paap’. Supposedly a remake of Peter Weir's English film ‘Witness’ starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis, ‘Paap’ was directed and produced by Pooja Bhatt, a bollywood actress and daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt. Udita Goswami was cast opposite bollywood hunk John Abraham in ‘Paap’. Though the film failed at the box office, Udita earned positive reviews for her performance.
Her sumptuous looks and charisma helped her to move ahead in bollywood and she was seen in Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Zeher’. The romantic thriller directed by Mohit Suri starred Emran Hashmi, Shamita Shetty and Udita Goswami in leading roles. The movie became a commercial success and Udita came in glare of publicity with her seductive scenes in ‘Zeher’. It was during the filming of ‘Zeher’ that Udita and Mohit Suri started dating. However differences cropped between the two when it was rumored that Mohit and Kangana Ranaut were romantically involved during the shoot of ‘Raaz’. Mohit brushed these rumors aside by stating that he was still in love with Udita but could not spend enough time with her due to his work commitments. Udita Goswami also confirmed that the couple is still together, however they had taken a break to concentrate on their careers.
Udita Goswami has worked in a few films like ‘Aksar’, ‘Aggar’, ‘Kisse Pyaar Karoon’, ‘Fox’, ‘Rokkk’ etc. She will soon be seen opposite Anuuj Saxsena in action thriller ‘Chase’ releasing on 29th April, 2010. The film is produced by Anuuj Saxsena and directed by Jag Mohan Mundhra. She is also playing prominent characters in a couple of other projects like ‘The Man’ alongside Sunny Deol and Shilpa Shetty and ‘Hello India’ alongside Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta.
