Upen Patel is a well known Indian model turned actor known for films like ‘Namaste London’ and ‘Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani’. Upen Patel became the first ever male Bollywood Grand Marshal to participate in the Independence Day Parade in Los Angeles in the year 2008. He was named among the top ten sexiest Asians by the magazine Eastern Eye in 2008.

Upen Patel was born on 16th August 1981 in London and started his career as a model. Upen won the the Zee Tv’s supermodel hunt 2002 and landed up with assignments for reputed names like Hugo Boss, Paul Smith and Zegna. Upen Patel became a sensation in the fashion industry and walked the ramp for many popular designers including Wendell Roderick, Vikram Phadnis as well as the retail chain Westside.

Upen Patel was undoubtedly India’s supermodel which was proved by the fact that he won the Most stylish Award Male at the MTV Lycra Style Awards for two years in a row, Upen also received four F awards as the Indian Supermodel for three subsequent years. Upen Patel also endorsed brands like Tuscan Verve, Tommy Hilfiger, Provogue, D'damas Desire.

Upen Patel was seen in a couple of music videos, however he became a popular face with the ‘Kya Khoob Lagti Ho’ remix music video opposite Udita Goswami. Upen Patel was approached by many bollywood filmmakers and he finally made his debut with Subhash Jha’s ’36 China Town’. Directed by abbas- mustan, ’36 China Town’ was the remake of Hollywood film ‘Once upon a Crime’ John Candy, James Belushi, Cybill Shepherd and Sean Young. ’36 China Town’, a crime comedy also starred Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Paresh Rawal, Johnny Lever, Payal Rohatgi and Tanaz Irani.

Upen Patel portrayed the role of a Casanova for which he won several awards for the Best Male Debut including the IIFA Award, Zee Cine Award and Global Indian Film Award. Upen also received a star Screen nomination for Most Promising Male Actor. Upen Patel was next seen in a supporting role in Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s superhit romantic comedy ‘Namastey London’. The film also starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor, Nina Wadia, Clive Standen and Javed Sheikh.

Upen Patel played the male lead alongside Bobby Deol, Celina Jaitley, Kangana Ranaut, Vijay Patil and Anupam Kher in the Suneel Darshan’s 2007 release musical drama ‘Shakalaka Boom Boom’. He also played a pivotal role in 2008 Bollywood comedy ‘One Two Three’ supposedly a remake of Mark Herman’s Hollywood film ‘Blame it on the Bellboy’ based on a story of mistaken identities. ‘One Two Three’ featured an ensemble cast including actors like Tushar Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, Esha Deol, Sameera Reddy, Upen Patel, Neetu Chandra and Tanisha.

Later Upen patel was seen alongside Govinda, Aftab Shivdasani, Manoj Bajpai, Hansika Motwani and Celina Jaitley in ‘Money Hai Toh Honey Hai’.The film was produced by Kumar Mangat and was the directorial debut of ace choreographer Ganesh Acharya. Upen Patel was recently seen in a supporting role in Rajkumar Santoshi’s blockbuster romantic comedy ‘Ajab Prem ki Ghazb Kahani’ also starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif as the lead pair.

Upen Patel is said to have been romantically involved with the acclaimed actress Tabu, Kajol’s sister Tanisha, Malaika Arora Khan’s sister Amrita Arora and Ranbir Kapoor’s ex girlfriend Deepika Padukone. He also dated a Brazilian model named Camilla Tavares.

Upen Patel is currently working on ‘Run Bhola Run’, a bollywood film directed by Neeraj Vora also starring Govinda, Ameesha Patel and Tusshar Kapoor.
