Wendell Roderick is a well known Indian designer based in Goa, whose designs are inspired from ancient Indian art. His mainstay is simple cuts adorning creatively conceived attires and he usually avoids heavy embroideries and embellishments. The hard working and diligent designer from Goa aspires to highlight the rich cultural traditions with his simple yet elegant creations that have been donned by several celebrities in India and abroad.
After graduating in hotel management, Wendell Roderick moved to Los Angeles and later Paris to learn the basics of fashion designing and technology. Wendell Roderick has carried out an intensive research on the history of the Goan costume and later interned at The National Costume Museum in Lisbon and the Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York.
In the initial stages of his career, he designed for corporate giants like Garden Vareli, Lakme and De DeBeers before launching his label Wendell Roderick in the year 1990. Since then Wendell has offered the best of fashion and style every year through his splendid collections.
Wendell’s designs are hugely inspired from diverse elements and concepts such as Tibetan Monasteries, Tribal symbols of Shiva and Vishnu, the Harem at Istanbul, Tattoos of the Lambadi tribe etc. His uniquely conceptualized collection named VISIONNAIRE had Braille inscribed onto fabrics exclusively for the visually impaired people.

Wendell Roderick became the first Indian designer to have received the rewarding opportunity of displaying his collection at the IGEDO Dusseldorf, the largest garment fair in the world. He was the first Indian designer to open the Dubai Fashion Week. Besides designing, Wendell is involved in various other activities like fashion journalism and styling for advertising campaigns. He has also provided his insight on the world costume history through lectures. He has served as the Chairman of the courses committee at the Board of Technical Education, Goa, and is also a member Advisory Board of many Fashion Institutes as well as Lakme Fashion Week. Wendell Roderick is a patron of Kasturba Gandhi Memorial Trust, Goa that works for the promotion of hand spun Khadi.
Wendell Roderick, an environmentalist is also known for his humanitarian efforts and has supported local education, cultural associations and the fashion industry, the Red Cross and the Alliance Franchise in Goa.Wendell Roderick is involved in a number of development works in Goa and has also designed uniforms for the Goa State Traffic Police and the staff of the Goa Tourism Development Corporation. Moreover he also designed for the Four Seasons, the Goa Marriott Resort, and the Vasco Sports Club football team.
He has worked as a stylist and costume designer for international advertisements of reputed brands like Wellspun, Delsey, SWATCH Bijoux, Breguet and Raymond Weil. Wendell’s clientele list includes actresses Angelina Jolie, Meg Ryan, Ayesha Dharker, Rekha, Malaika Arora Khan, Supermodels like Helena Christensen, Iman and India Hicks, writers Sudhir Kakkar, Anil Dharker, Amitav Gosh, Bachi Karkaria and Shobhaa De and popular musicians Shankar, Ehsan& Loy, Jose Feliciano, Remo and Jean Luc Ponty. His designs have been featured in publications like Elle, Femina, Beautiful People, Malltimes, Filmfare, Cosmopolitan etc.
His designs are presently being retailed at a number of upmarket stores in India and overseas including Ensemble, Kimaya, Cinnamon, Casa Goa, Collage, Zoya, Aza, Rudraksh, among others.
