Zayed Khan

Zayed Khan is a popular Bollywood actor known for exemplary performance in blockbuster ‘Main Hoon Na’. Zayed Khan belongs to a filmy background with many actors and directors in his family. He was born on 5th July, 1980 to actor- director Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan, an interior designer. Zayed’s sister Suzzane Khan Roshan is married to popular Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. Zayed’s uncle late Feroz Khan was a well known actor, director and producer and Feroze Khan’s son Fardeen Khan is also an established actor.

Zayed’s father Sanjay Khan remarried Zeenat Khan for a short duration during the filming of ‘Abdullah’. After the film was completed Sanjay Khan along with his first wife Zarine assaulted Zeenat at a private party. Zeenat was so badly battered that she suffered serious injuries in one of her eyes. Zeenat later married Mazhar Khan, a businessman.

Zayed Khan attended the reputed Welham Boys' School, Dehradun and later Kodaikanal International School, Kodaikanal. Zayed and Bollywood actress Esha Deol, daughter of Dharmendra and Hema Malini are childhood friends as both went to the same school. Zayed married his long time girlfriend Mallaika Parekh in an Islamic Nikah ceremony in the year 2005. The couple is blessed with a son named Ziddan.

Zayed Khan made his bollywood debut opposite Esha Deol in Sangeeth Sivan’s ‘Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne’ released in 2003. Though the film could not fare well at the box office, Zayed’s performance was well received and he was nominated for the Zee cine Best Male Debut Award.

Zayed’s second film ‘Main Hoon Na’ became a blockbuster and the highest grossing film of the year. Directed by ace choreographer Farah Khan and produced by Gauri Khan and Shahrukh Khan, ‘Main Hoon Na’ was nominated for ten Filmfare Awards and won several awards at other award ceremonies. Zayed Khan was seen in a supporting role alongside Shahrukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao and Naseerudin Shah. Zayed received a Filmfare nomination in the Best Supporting Actor category for ‘Main Hoon Na.

Zayed was next seen in mega hits like ‘Shaadi No. 1’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Sharman Joshi, Ayesha Takia, Soha Ali Khan, Esha Deol, Riya Sen, Aarti Chhabria, Sophia Chaudhary, Satish Shah and Rajpal Yadav and ‘Dus’ alongside Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, Suniel Shetty, Esha Deol and Diya Mirza.

However this success was followed by a stride of flops including ‘Shabd’ alongside Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, ‘Vaada’ alongside Arjun Rampal and Amisha Patel, ‘Rocky: The Rebel’ alongside Isha Sharvani and Minissha Lamba, ‘Cash’ alongside Ajay Devgan, Esha Deol, Ritesh Deshmukh and Shamita Shetty, ‘Speed’ alongside Urmila Matondkar, Aashish Chaudhary, Aftab Shivdasani and Sanjay Suri and ‘Fight Club’ alongside Suniel Shetty, Sohail Khan, Dino Morea, Diya Mirza, among others.

Zayed earned positive reviews for his performance in Subhash Ghai’s family Drama ‘Yuvvraaj’ alongside Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif and Apoorva Lakhia’s action flick ‘Mission Istaanbul’ opposite Shriya Saran. Zayed was recently seen in ‘Blue’, india’s first underwater adventure film. The film also starred Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta and Katrina Kaif. Australian pop sensation Kylie Minogue made a musical guest appearance in ‘Blue’.

Zayed will soon be seen in Siddharth Anand’s ‘Anjana Anjani’ also starring Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor. It is assumed that ‘Anjana Anjani’ is the remake of 1995 release Hollywood cult film ‘Before Sunrise’.
